Happy Monday, friends! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's blog post. How was your weekend? Mine was great! Here's what I did, starting with Friday at work.
I dressed comfortably that day since it was our annual Turkey Trot, which is a huge fundraiser/race for the students. This was so much fun to witness! There are pictures below.
I loved cheering on some of our students!
I spent part of Saturday with Chris out where he lives in Mississippi; they have this monthly event called Trade Days, where you can buy clothing, baked good, car parts, and animals. I loved and hated it, because there were puppies for sale (and some for free) in horrible living conditions. I had a horrible headache; he drove us back to his house, and I left to head home, but I thought I was going to have to pull over at one point, I felt so bad. I made it home and took a nap before changing clothes and leaving again, this time to meet my old neighbors and dear friends, Katie, Travis, their nephew Zander that they raised, and their two kids.
Sweet Zander grew up in my living room!
It was so good seeing them! At this point in the day, I also started feeling better. Part of it could have been from the dread I'd felt leading up to Saturday, what would have been my 29th wedding anniversary; once the day arrived, however, I didn't even give it a thought. I'm relieved that it was like this; it also helped tremendously being busy all day. After lunch I went back home, and Chris came over. We ran a couple of errands, then had a pizza and movie night at my house. He left and came back early Sunday morning to go to church with me!
This is me documenting how much I love my new hair product! I'm making the switch from mousse to gel.
So Chris asked if I would mind if he came to church with me; I thought about it and told him I didn't mind a bit. I have to confess that it was a big deal for me to take someone I'm dating to the church that I attended with my ex-husband for fifteen years. I felt like eyes were watching me as I sat down after choir; we slid in before and left really quickly afterward. He met my best friend and her husband, and then I introduced him to a couple of more people, but we left fast to meet my mom and Bill for lunch after church. I walked out holding his hand and felt like I reached a milestone.
I have all the thoughts, but things are going well with us, and I'm pleased with this. We've talked about some dates that are coming up; I also don't want to do too much projecting of future dates onto him.
And speaking of Marilyn, she asked me to tell you that this is why she's not blogging this week. She has all the home improvement projects to tackle before her house gets photographed on Thursday and hopefully it'll be listed on the market by the weekend.
What did you do this weekend that you loved? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

It looks like a nice weekend! Have a great Monday :).
ReplyDeleteIt was! Thanks, friend! I hope the same for you.
DeleteI can see why that artwork outside the art room makes you smile; it's so vibrant and fun! I just finished listening to The Third Gilmore Girl and I really enjoyed it so much. That sounds like a really fabulous weekend. We had a pretty quiet weekend at home but I did get to check out a new, really cute local bookstore I hadn't known about before.
ReplyDeleteI love that Kelly also narrates it! It was a good one; how fun to check out a new bookstore!
DeleteHi Jenn :) What a busy weekend for you! That must have been a little strange walking into church with Chris. Church is like family...they see all the things we go through over the years. But it's great that he wanted to go with you. Enjoy your week off :) I hope you get some peace and rest before heading back.
ReplyDeleteHello! It was a busy one...and good. It was very strange having another man sit beside me in church, but you are so right about how the church is our family. That's kind of why I snuck in and snuck out quickly afterward. I have work this week and then I'm off the following week for fall break! I can't wait!
Delete"you can buy clothing, baked good, car parts, and animals" - This probably seems so weird to a city person but I get it and I would have felt the same. I'm sorry you felt so bad. Isn't it funny how emotions can manifest physically? And, darn it - I meant to acknowledge Saturday and I forgot. I am sorry but I am glad it turned out to be ok after all. And, what a milestone doing the church thing!
ReplyDeleteHi to Marilyn! That teriyaki looks amazing! She has a big week!
One week til your fall break! Woohoo! What a sweet fall gift!
Also, I found a typo right before I read this comment. Oh well. It was so weird! I'm not sure how I felt about it, honestly. There were so many interesting people there! Oh, and I didn't mention they also sold guns, and then they were just being carried around carelessly as we were walking. It was slightly horrifying! I really do think it could have been emotions that manifested physically. I have heard that happening before, but I'm glad the day was good and that it was full. One more week! I can't wait.
DeleteI'm sorry the milestones are hard, but hopefully in time there's less pain on those days. Stress can bring on headaches for sure. It's nice he wanted to go to church with you. It's part of who you are and he gets to see that in person. Tell Marilyn hello from the blog world. I hope all goes well for her with the listing. Have a nice week Jenn!
ReplyDeleteThis year was so much better than last year! I really do think it was stress related. It was a big step, him going to church with me! I'll tell Marilyn you said hello! I hope the same for you, my friend.
