Happy Wednesday, friends, and happy October! I'm here with Joyce again today for the weekly hodgepodge...this is a post that I dearly love; thank you, Joyce, for your inspiring and thought provoking questions each and every week! I'll jump right in.
1. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. How does this saying ring true in your own family, either the one you grew up in or the one you made? I immediately thought of two scenarios that this statement rings true, both in the family I made, and the one I was born into. Frist off, Jonah is just like me in so many ways. He's clean, timely, organized, he talks fast, and we share a birthmark/mole. I see so much of me in him when we talk, and I couldn't love anything more! I like to think that my guys all have the best parts of me, and I will take full credit for their charismatic personalities; they're all great conversationalists, they know when to talk and when to stop, they're always smiling, and everyone loves them.
Secondly, I am just like my mom. I love this and will always be glad that this is the case! I get my love of nurturing from her, my love of cooking, my love of decorating, and my sense of style all come from her. I give her all the credit for the best parts of me! Mom, if you're reading this, thank you! You're amazing and I want to be just like you when I grow up.
Isn't she gorgeous? People always tell me how much I favor her, and I always say a resounding thank you to this. What a compliment!
2. Something you're nuts about these days? How about something that's driving you nuts?
Something that drives me nuts is the remote control issue I have with my living room television. Jonah's dog ate the old one, so I use the Roku app on my phone, and half the time it won't connect to my living room TV. It's been literally weeks since I've watched anything downstairs! I listen to music all the time instead. This is the type of thing that's way above my pay grade.
3. What does abundance mean to you? I've learned in the last year and a half what an abundance of family and friends I have; I used to think this was only in terms of monetary value, but these days? I speak in terms of relationships that I've been blessed with in my life. I have an abundance of this, and I am so grateful to God! Please see above pictures, along with the ones below.
Thanks be to God for these indescribable gifts! (2 Corinthians 9:15)
4. Caramel apple, caramel cake, caramel corn, caramel sundae, caramel macchiato...what's your caramel treat of choice? I'm not in love with caramel, but I will eat it on occasion. I prefer it in a Twix candy bar or in popcorn. And now I'm craving that!
5. What's a childhood memory that always comes to mind as the leaves start to fall? Halloween! I am not sure why this sticks out so much to me, but maybe it's because I lived in the country and Dad had to drive me around to trick-or-treat. I always went with my best friend Stacy; we always tried to coordinate our costumes each year!
6. Insert your own thought here. I love to watch people dance, and was an avid watcher of Dancing with the Stars for years. My favorite dancers were always Derek and Juliana Hough; I came across this dance last year on dedication night of Derek and his wife Hayley. It's one of the most beautiful and emotional dances I've ever seen! Here's the video.
Thanks for reading my blog today, friends! I can't wait to read your answers to these prompts. Love to all!

Great pictures- of you and Marilyn and with your family and friends. It´s great that you got so much good from your mom and that you see it in your boys! I wonder how much of their personality being like yours is hereditary and how much they picked up from you being around you? Things like that interest me. I love that you think of abundance in relationship to relationships. You have been blessed with so many good ones- you deserve them all :). Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAw I love seeing all these photos of you with Marilyn and other friends and family members! I'm a lot like my mom too and we're often told we look so much a like as well. I think that's a compliment as well; though I don't think I felt that way in middle or high school.
ReplyDeleteGreat new header! I love your answer about abundance!
ReplyDeleteOk - we have to keep our Amazon Firestick remote on the mantel. Can you order a new one and do that? Also, I bought boxes that look like books for my living room and you could put inside? What on Earth could dogs think tastes good about a remote!
