weekly happies

Happy Thursday, friends! Here is this week's installment of my weekly happies that I'm always on the watch for. Grab a cup of coffee and settle in!

  • worship music to start my mornings off the right way
  • Chris—dreaming of our future together and where we want to live...talking about our wants in the house we'll live in together someday
  • funny little sayings about pineapples and being like one (standing tall, wearing a crown, and being sweet on the inside)
  • cute little places on the town square (even if we didn't get to eat there Sunday after church because it was closed)
  • organizing the spaces in my home that get cluttered quickly
  • being able to be at home for the days leading up to going back to work for the new school year
  • school supplies...I cannot wait to buy some!
  • reading books
  • visiting my happy places in a week...Novel bookstore and the town library
  • laughter over me getting dates wrong and sitting outside waiting on the library board meeting to start two weeks before it is actually scheduled for
  • an impromptu dinner out at Fuji for gyoza, sushi, and fried rice
  • seeing this picture of Drew and Mallory on Monday (her mom texted it to me) and seeing the smile on his handsome face over being smitten
  • visiting friends at my old church home
  • having fresh flowers at home that I bought
  • planning trips for the fall and winter
  • repurposing things in my home and moving things around to freshen up the decor
  • keeping things clean here
  • good smelling spray for my kitchen counters
  • having my new Bible set up with tabs and reading in it each day
  • rain to water the flowers and grass...thank You, Lord!
  • being excited about church on Sunday
  • meeting with a friend for coffee from the new church (Living Hope)
  • having plans on my calendar for lunches next week
  • being able to help a friend in need who is beginning a journey of divorce
  • sunshine after the rain
  • my candle warmer that I love
  • drinking iced coffee out of the new cup Mallory bought for me
  • a delicious (healthy) breakfast, iced coffee, and the word of God

What are your weekly happies? I'd love to hear them! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends; I'll see you back here tomorrow. Love to all!

  1. My boys and I had the best time yesterday exploring a new museum and going out to lunch. The ladies who worked at the museum were so sweet and incredibly passionate about their work that we had the greatest talks with them... one of whom had been to Greece with the same tour guide Alec went with so they had an extra long talk.

  2. I like your positive attitude about so many things. Seeing school supplies in stores makes me sad, lol!! I'm super thankful we had rain over the weekend. With the 90+ temps this week, the plants and grass needed that deep soak.

    1. Thank you! I wasn't ready to see them yet either, honestly, but I'll be excited to buy some when the time comes. I always need to replace pens, highlighters, colored pencils, notebooks/notebook paper, binders, and post it notes! I have never stopped loving school supplies! Yes, I feel that. I was the same way....it's rained some almost everyday lately, and I'm not complaining, I promise. The Lord is saving me money on my water bill!

  3. So many great things this week! If you look for the blessings, you will find them! Buying new supplies always helped me get ready and excited to go back - new markers, pens (check out Tul brand on Amazon), planners, shoes, a lunch bag, a tote bag - ahhhhhh.
I had a horrible school dream last night, though. I was trying to administer a final exam, and they put me in a big room where I couldn't monitor and teachers kept coming in and being rude and loud. I finally grabbed a walkie talkie and called security.

    1. SO many great things this week! You are right, and I love that saying about finding more blessings when you look. I think it helps me going back knowing that I can buy some new supplies and that I get to see my co-workers. I've kept in touch with them all summer, and even today, three of us are going to lunch, and one of them is spending the whole day with me today. I love our relationship! These women have become some of my closest friends. I'll check that brand out, thank you!

That is a TERRIBLE DREAM. I hate it when my nights feel chaotic because of nightmares, don't you?!

  5. What a great list of happies! That is so sweet that you and Chris are dreaming about your future together and yay for buying school supplies. This is the first year I don't have to buy any but I think I might treat myself to a new notebook.
I am happy that it has cooled down here, it's still warm but not the sweltering heat we have been having.

  6. Jen, What a great list! I especially love the "pineapple". I love how you gather all these little joys into one place — it’s such a sweet reminder of how much goodness fills an ordinary week. From worship music and iced coffee to organizing, fresh flowers, and time with the people you love, it all paints such a peaceful, grateful picture.

    1. Thanks for that, friend! I also love the pineapple theory; we should all take it to heart, right?

  7. I had not one but TWO friends give me a sweet little gift this week- gifts are my love language, and I feel like it is usually the most overlooked one, so I'm always SO thrilled when someone gives me something and says "I was thinking of you when I saw this!"
