Happy Thursday, friends! I thought I'd share a few things about me that you might not already know. I hope you enjoy this!
I have a few OCD tendencies; I need to volume on TV to be at an even number at all times. I also tend to go back and check (and then re-check) things a lot.
I am pretty certain that I have something called dyscalculia, which is like dyslexia, but with math.
I have eight piercings in my ears. I have two more holes that I don't ever wear: one on my left ear and one on the cartilage part of my left ear.
I have three tattoos and want more.
I am more adventurous than I let on; I love to travel and explore new places.
I am tenderhearted, but I tend to have a strict side. This came out in my parenting and it comes out now in the elementary school setting. I also pull out my "mom voice" from time to time, and it always surprises people.
I'm a published author; years and years ago, I used to submit articles to The Today Show website on parenting advice. I always had a lot of great feedback! I also wrote for an online Christian magazine for a few years. Additionally, I've helped write six Bible studies; as much as I love the studying and writing, it was the editing process that came so naturally! I've been writing since I was a little girl; to this day I have tons of journals that I go through, but I don't keep them for long.
I'm a singer and people like to hear me sing, but I've never done karaoke! Also on that note, when I was younger, I was told that I had perfect pitch. I don't know if that's still true (probably not), but I thought it was cool. I love to sing in places with great acoustics, so give me a garage or a hallway any day. It would be a dream to sing somewhere like that publicly!
I may not ever want to marry again. I thought I did, and I think I do sometimes...but I really like my life when I'm not attached to anyone. I admire women who never remarry! I don't need a man to complete me. (This may change tomorrow. Ha!)
I'm able to compartmentalize really well.
I'm a neat freak, and a clean freak, but you'd never know it because of all the dang dogs! This makes me crazy, and I have stopped trying to run myself ragged trying to maintain it well.
I love being in my bedroom more than any other room in my house.
I type really well, and really fast.
I hate it when my fingernails are long, even though I love the way it makes my hands look.
I love Thanksgiving night through December 24th the most; it's the spirit of Christmas that I love, not the actual day of.
I hate Hallmark holidays.
I can be bad about matching other people, meaning that I take on what they like or dislike. I did this for 28 years in my marriage, and I won't do it again. I used to say that I hate the beach, but then I went to the beach with friends, and I've loved it ever since! I never wanted to go to one again while I was married, because he would have been miserable, and it would have put me in a bad mood. But with friends? Yes, please!
I sometimes talk to myself; I have been doing this a lot lately.
I love being with people, but I also need to be alone sometimes. I'm an extroverted introvert.
I tend to want to be in control, but I really don't at the same time. I'm always telling myself to let something go. It's not my job or my responsibility.
I work hard.
I'm scatterbrained.
I prefer music to having the TV on.
I prefer my showers and hair washing at night.
What say you? Tell me something about yourself that I don't know. This idea was inspired by something I saw people asking Chat GPT. See you back here tomorrow, friends! Love to all.

This was fun to read! It would be a good Facebook post where other people copy it and put checks or “x’s” next to the things they have in common with you. I bet I would have more checkmarks than “x’s” on this list of yours :)
ReplyDeleteSomething I recently discovered about myself is (1) I enjoy building things. Not physical things, but processes routines “fixing” in efficiencies, etc. I did a lot of talking to ChatGPT and reflection when I quit my last job to figure out where I belong. (2) I don’t like to do things alone. I am a leader by nature, but would prefer to begin an initiative with someone or a group rather than just charge ahead on my own.
These insights have become valuable to me as I try to prioritize what is important in my life.
Thanks! I love FB lists! I always participate in them when I see one that catches my eye, but now that I'm writing this, it's been a while. i love that you've learned some things about yourself. I feel the same way, and I never would have described myself as tough before, but I am. My sons have said this to me repeatedly over the course of the last (almost) month. I value their opinions of me!
DeleteWhat a fun read!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! All those piercings. I had my ears pierced when I was a teen but took the earrings out and let the holes close as they kept catching on things and it annoyed me. My girls often forget my mom voice and I bring it out every now and again just to keep them in check. hehehe Yes! I hate long fingernails too, I always keep mine short and I am always talking to myself.
Thanks, friend! All the piercings. Ha! That's funny that you'll use your mom voice with the girls still. I haven't used it with my own sons in ages, but I use it daily with their dogs!
DeleteMy husband was just laughing at me last night because as we laid in bed I glanced at my watch and saw that I had 6,556 steps and I said "I need to take it off now that it's a cool patterned number." He rolled his eyes and accused me of also having OCD tendencies... he's not wrong!
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! I love you even more now. Ha!
DeleteVery interesting! I learned a few new things. I think some of these things can change over time, too. I love the idea of the beach more than the actual beach. I get quite annoyed with the sand! Lol!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think we go through changes from time to time as well. I feel like I wasn't always an extroverted introvert. And I get the whole annoyance with sand thing. It's pretty irritating that it really does get everywhere!
