share 4 somethings {April 2025}

Happy Saturday, friends! I'm so glad you're here today! We're talking about some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of this month. I'll jump right in!

I loved so many things this month!

I loved playing detective one night with a friend who shall remain nameless...

I loved listening to Meghan Trainor's music this month since I had to give up country music for a stint.

I loved celebrating my Drewby turning 25! I loved that he spent the night on the second and that I woke up to him at home on his actual birthday; I loved that I was able to make him breakfast and send him off to work with food for the rest of his weekend. Being a mom to adults is my favorite thing in life at the moment!

I learned a lot this month.

I learned that you can't take people's word for who they say they are, and I learned how to change my own windshield wiper blades thanks to a new friend at Auto Zone. You should see how much of a difference they made on my car! I love being able to learn new things; what a privilege this is in life. I will never again take it for granted.

Some things went well for me this month!

I have a confession; I joined a dating app! I am not interested in a relationship with anyone at the moment, but I've enjoyed meeting new people and having them as friends. It's all I want for now, and I'm glad to do this since I haven't had men friends since before I was married. I felt like I needed to rip the band-aid off, so to speak, as far as being friends with men and going to do things with them. You've probably figured out that I spent last Saturday with a new friend; we met in Sikeston and spent the day together, then we each went back to our home towns that afternoon. This is something that went well for me this month! I have another new friend that I'm talking to as well, one that only lives about 50 minutes from me; I hope to meet him within the next week or so when he comes here. We've talked about maybe doing dinner together soon. I'm enjoying my life and I'm being careful, but I'm also cautiously optimistic about what's to come regarding my future.

This was my excited face before I left on Saturday morning. I feel like I walk around with a goofy grin on my face 24/7. Marilyn will attest to this, since she's seen me through this new phase!

Singing in the choir during Easter weekend went well for me this month!

I let go of some more things this month

I let go of caring what the people in my life who are no longer a part of my life are doing. This was Marilyn and me laughing over something pertaining to where we were in this picture.

I let go of drinking hot coffee in the mornings. I've been drinking it cold each morning, and I have zero complaints about it, it's so delicious.

I'm about to let go of this shirt, because it's bringing back all kinds of bad memories. I hate it when that happens! It's not a bad thing, though, since it's way too big for me these days.

I'm so glad you're here today to link up with me for this fun post! I can't wait to catch up with you when I get home next week. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend, friends. Love to all!

  1. Ohh! Playing detective sounds interesting and I do love a bit of Meghan Trainor!
That is great that you are learning new things and good luck with the dating app! It is good to meet new people, I am glad you are being careful though.
I have switched to iced coffee now and I am loving it. Especially when it is warm out.

  2. I drink iced coffee in the afternoon in the summer months and love it too. I still have hot in the morning, but I make a small pot of decaf and keep it in the frig. My daughter loves it too so we've been enjoying that together in the afternoons. New people and experiences sounds exciting and going into it with a sense of caution is wise. I'm sure you're having a nice weekend!

  4. Dating apps are interesting, my brother met his now ex-wife using that and she turned out to be alcoholic with bad temper/anger issues. There is also young men from Morocco, Nigeria using apps and fake info to get green cards, money out of western women. The British Daily Mail always publishes these stories, too bad technology and internet is a double edge sword.

    1. I've heard horror stories, trust me. Just like with everything else in life, there are pros and cons to everything: dating apps, social media, blogs, and the comment section that we use to display our words to each other. It's why I'm taking extra precautions that I can't talk about here.

  5. I celebrated my son's birthday this month as well! SO glad so many things went well for you this month and you have a lot to celebrate. I actually tried cold coffee (again) this week and thought it was nasty. I may have put too much ice in it, or it might be that I still don't like it, LOL! I hope you have a great week!

  10. I love this post for lots of reasons. YOu seem so genuinely happy. YOu deserve that. And good for you for letting go of thinking aobut what others are doing. It's a skill but so healthy. And I love you are giving the apps a go - my sister doesn't like the apps but does like going to the speed dating nights. She finds the meeting the people up front easier, and you get a night out to boot, so even if there's no one, it's not a waste. There are ones for friends too -ie to meet friends. Lastly, detective. I want more deets on that! Sounds like a kooky escapade!

    1. My favourite bit was "I love being a parent to adults". It really is a joy, tho we often focus on missing them when they're little.

    2. Thank you so much for this, friend! I greatly appreciate your kind words and the encouragement. I always need that! I have having success with this particular app for now; I may try the speed dating night, though, if I can find one in my area. I'd definitely have to have a friend go with me, though. The night playing detective was the best! I can't really talk about it here, though...feel free to email me for deets, though! Allboys@gamil.com.

  11. I once had a great pair of windshield wipers that, for whatever reason, were amazing! ha. Good for you in becoming more independent on take care of your car. I'm still slacking there. 12. I love parenting adults so much! I mean I've loved all stages but thought I was going to hate the teen years since everyone talks about them like they are the worst, but I loved it. Then I thought I'd hate it when they were "all grown up" and official adults that didn't need me anymore but I love that too. It was kind of a relief! They all made it. LOL
