Hello Monday

Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Mine was really good! I started the weekend by cleaning my house; it was in desperate need of some attention! I love it when weekends are a great blend of busy, productive, fun, and chill.

Marilyn came over to my house around 4:30 on Friday afternoon. We hung out here for a while before we decided we were hungry enough to leave for dinner; we went to our favorite again, The Salad Station. It was so good! If I can let you in on part of our conversations when we're together, here's a scenario that becomes a topic that we talk about for a while. There was a young couple walking by with two kids in tow, and we talked about how young and idealistic they were, or seemed. We do this thing where we "talk" to the men about not being jerks and learning to stay faithful to their wives. That no matter what does or does not happen in marriage, that there's never an excuse to be unfaithful to the wife.

We did this and gave that man a pep talk through the window, without him even knowing; then we happened to notice that his wedding ring was on the wrong hand. I Googled why men might do this; and I wasn't really satisfied with any of the answers. It was a silicone band, so it's not like it was even a metal with sharp edges; his other hand looked fine, too. Can you explain this to me? Or share your thoughts? I wanted to tell that woman to confront him about this! It doesn't seem right. If you're married, you should always look married!

I digress.

After dinner, we ended up at Gracie Bleu yogurt, where I had a combo of triple chocolate and salted caramel pretzel. It was so good! Then we made a quick pass through Marshall's for Mar. We went back to my house after this, and I proceeded to feel sick to my stomach after the yogurt, and then I fell asleep in the chair while she worked on something on her phone. 🤣 She left and I went to bed and fell asleep quickly, but then I randomly woke up at 11:30. My friend texted me as he was driving home from being out to dinner with his guy friends, and we ended up talking on the phone for an hour as he made his way to his house. I can sleep when I'm dead, right?

I met Mom on Saturday morning; we ran a couple of errands, then we had lunch at this beautiful place that I've been to a few times called Local Lime.

I love when the restaurant has ambiance!

I had grilled chicken tacos, which were incredible. I could only eat two, then brought the third one home for another meal.

I'm at the stage of life that I will always ask for pictures with Mom when we're together. I learned last year with Dad that life can change in the blink of an eye, and that all the moments need to be seized and lived. I will always do this! I'm glad she's a willing participant. Mom and I parted ways right after lunch; I needed to get home to take headache medicine.

I did that and sat around for a while before my friend (I'll just call him J, since that's the initial of his first name) texted and asked if I wanted to hang out with him. Um, yes please! I left home at 1:30 and went to his house and we stayed outside all afternoon while he did things involving around his work. This is his truck; it's a mobile tool shop on wheels and is super cool. I enjoyed seeing him doing something he loves and just hanging out and getting to know him while he worked. It was a fun afternoon! We ended up going to dinner at some point, then back to his house while he did laundry and we binge watched the second season of Love on the Spectrum. Thanks for that rec, Amy!

I stayed out way too late again and was so tired that I didn't want to wake up yesterday morning for church.

I didn't open the bookstore after church like I usually do, so I when I got home, these guys were all here waiting on me! I don't like to go out after church on Mother's Day because of the crowds, so we always come to my house and eat lunch together. Yesterday we had a hodgepodge of things; it wasn't fancy, but it all worked. The point of it all wasn't the food, but the company, you know?

This is the dress I bought in Louisville a couple of weeks ago; I love it so much! I got lots of compliments on it when I wore it yesterday.

I missed seeing Noah, but I was glad to get this from Jacob yesterday! Jacob is his best friend and roommate. And that's all I did for the rest of the day! I took a nap, I worked on my blog for this week, I cleaned up the kitchen, and I talked on the phone. It was a great day!

What did you do that you loved this weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

  1. Sounds like a nice weekend! J seems like a pretty good guy and obviously likes spending time with you. I hope that relationship goes wherever God may want it to go... I hope you felt so loved on Mother's Day (and every day really but yesterday was an "official" day for it!!). Have a great day!

    1. It was a fun weekend! I appreciate that we both just like spending time together, whatever it looks like. I like how you put that, and I am praying along those lines. I was so glad to see the 3 Memphis guys this weekend! It was a perfect way to spend the afternoon. They always do a good job of making me feel loved, and they offer me lots of entertainment as they tell me things I don't know. 🤣 Have a great day, my friend!

    1. Right? He said "hang out", and that's what we did! 🤣 We were actually outside most of the time before going in before eating dinner. It's an adorable show!

  3. Oh myI love that pink dress on you ! Our youngest grandson turned four, so a Hulk pool party overshadowed Mothers’s Day—so cute to his face when he saw all the decorations just for him. You and I have that in common that we enjoy doing for others!
