Happy Wednesday, friends! I'm here with Joyce today again for the weekly Wednesday hodgepodge. I love this day of blogging and appreciate that her questions are always fun and fresh from week to week. You're a rockstar, Joyce! I'll jump right in.
1. What's your favorite room in your house and why? I feel like if you'd asked me this question at different times in my life, the answer would have been different each time. It used to be the kitchen, because it's always been the heart of the home. At one point it was the bonus room, because it was full of life and laughter in the days when we lived here as a family of six. I love the living room because it's decorated in a way that makes me happy. But I'm going to say that my bedroom is my current favorite, because it's mine. I plan on buying a new headboard soon and making some more changes to it as the days go on. I want to spruce up my bathroom somehow, but I'm not sure what that will be just yet. I keep feeling the need to make changes here to make the whole house feel like mine and not ours.
2. What's something that will instantly annoy you? Something that will instantly annoy me is when someone interrupts either me or another person as they talk. Someone who used to be in my life was very bad at this, and I'd learned to just keep talking. It used to make me crazy when my boys would do this to me when they were little; I remember telling them a million times to wait until someone was finished talking first. I think it's a rude quality in an adult, though.
3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...will you celebrate? How do you like yours? If you're not cooking at home, is there a favorite place you like to go for a burger? Did you ever work in a fast food restaurant? I love hamburgers, but I probably won't celebrate this day, to be honest. I love a good burger from a bar and grill place near me; there are two, actually, both local places: Skybox and Huey's. I never worked in a fast food restaurant, but my first job was at a gas station! I loved the job and had fun working with a friend of mine from high school; I did this as a senior.
4. What are three scents you like? Coconut, vanilla, and evergreen are my favorite scents!
I mentioned this perfume last week; have you checked it out yet? It's amazing!
5. What do you miss most about being a kid? I probably miss not having to be responsible all the time the most. I miss being young and idealistic about life. I miss thinking fairytale endings existed. I miss my dad and him being the first man I ever loved. I miss loving a man. Ima stop myself now. (Yes, I meant to say "Ima" and it's not a typo.)
6. Insert your own random thought here. I've recently discovered (again) the artist Teddy Swims; J introduced me to this song that he sang that's a cover for an old Shania Twain song. I like the cover more than the original! This man does not sing how he looks, and his voice has become one of my favorites in the last few weeks since I've been listening to so many of his songs. Also, the other day when I was with J, we sat for two solid hours and listened to music; he tested my musical knowledge by asking me for names of songs and the artists who sang them. His taste is like mine: eclectic, which I love. I mostly passed his test. 🤣
Thanks for reading my blog today, friends! I'm always excited to read your answers to the same questions. I'll see you back here tomorrow! Love to all.
That perfume smells so good! Also, I have a headboard for you. Happy Wednesday friend!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good! I know, and need to get that from you. I'm excited about it changing up my room! Happy Wednesday!
DeleteI like Teddy Swims too. We listen to a wide variety here. I'm don't have a musical bone in my body, but I love music and sing anyway (not loudly lol). My hubs can recognize a tune in a single note and thankfully my girls both got his family's musical genes. Hope you have a great day Jen!
ReplyDeleteI love so many different genres of music! That made me laugh when you said that you sing loudly in spite of not being musical; that's how it should be! It's interesting how things run in families, right? My sons are all musical. Happy Wednesday!
DeleteWow - love his voice! At first I was thinking Johnnyswim which is a fave of Magnolia Joanna Gaines. I really like them. I am trying to get into Forrest Frank, a fave of the younguns. I almost ordered the sttges - can I buy a vowel. I decided my summer scent would be Oaui and Trader Joe's nut butter and it works well with the coconut oil regimen, too. Very summery. But, I still might check it out.
ReplyDeleteI like Johnnyswim as well, but Teddy is mind blowing! I love Forrest Frank, too, and only recently found him on Spotify. I think those scents are amazing! I just bought the Brazil Nut body wash and body butter from TJ's in McKinney last weekend. It's very summery!
DeleteEnjoyed reading your answers! I have to admit that interrupting people when they're talking is something I've had to work on because... I do it :(. I don't like it when others do it so I've been really working on it myself. I don't know where that bad habit started. I can see how your favorite room would change. And can totally see turning the whole house into "yours." Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for introducing me to that artist. Love his voice and what a tender song it is. That is fun that your first job was at a gas station. Great answer for number one. It's a real great reminder to be reading the annoying question answers and seeing things that I need to be aware of in life with others!! :) Enjoy the last few days of May!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn-I have to sign talking over someone is also a huge pet peeve of mine! Especially by adults! Just wait your turn! Thanks for always sharing music-I love music (most any kind, but bluegrass!) Can't wait to see all the decor changes your making to make your house your own :)
ReplyDeleteHow great that you are making changes in your home to make it yours!
ReplyDeleteI hate being interrupted when I am talking. I also keep talking and just a little bit louder.
I saw a perfume which looked exactly like that, the bottle and logo looked the same but it was a copy. It still smelled good.
My girls introduced me to Teddy Swims a little while ago and I did not expect him to sound like he does! Amazing!!
Good morning!! My husband is very bad about interrupting people, and honestly, I call him out on it. It’s incredibly rude, and after 35 years of marriage, I’m kind of over it. It’s never too late to unlearn a bad habit, eh?
ReplyDeleteI'm with Maria - I always have to work on not interrupting. I love that fragrance - so perfect for summer. I hadn't heard of Teddy Swims, but love his sound!
ReplyDeletevanilla and coconut are great scents! I have a horrible habit of interrupting.. I'm working on it and learning to just keep it in my mind until it's my "turn" to talk. I really want to be a better listener and it's hard to listen when I'm talking!
