weekending

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a great and full weekend! Mine was really good; I got to spend time with Noah, my sister Debi who was here from Denver, Mom, Trish, Marilyn, and J.

I got my weekend started off with a coffee date with a blogging friend! Stacie reached out to me this week telling me she'd be in the area this weekend, so she asked for some recs of places to eat, and then I asked if she'd be up for meeting for coffee. She was! We met at this adorable coffee shop in the Germantown area of Memphis called Jojo's Espresso.

Stacie is a doll, and I am so glad I got to meet her! When I left her, I met up with Trish, Debi, and Mom. We ate lunch at a local place on the square, The Silver Caboose. It was fried chicken Friday, if that tells you how good the food is; it was delicious!

After that we went to John Mark's so that Debi could look around, then we went into another little boutique that was next door. We just browsed, then we parted ways; Marilyn met up with us at JM's, so I loved that she got to meet Debi and hang with us for a half hour. I love it when our worlds cross! I came home after this and look who got there shortly after me!

My Noah made it home safely after a day of driving from Dallas. This always helps me to breathe a sigh of relief; are you like this when your people get to where they're going? It was so good to see him here at home, and watching him and Jonah hug. Jonah misses him so much! It breaks my heart that my twins have to live so far apart; I don't know that I'll ever get used to it, actually. I could seriously sit and cry over this.

I had plans Friday night that fell through; I was going to find something to do, but I ended up being content staying home. I changed into my comfy clothes (these are new shorts from Walmart), and started a new show on Netflix: Waterfront. I did end up having to leave, though...I decided to go for a drive in the country so that I could drive by my dad's house, but I changed my mind and went back toward town. Before I knew it, I found myself calling my (ex) in-law's and asked if I could come over to see them. It's been almost a year since I've laid eyes on them! It was nice catching up for an hour or so; after this I drove to Sonic near them and a friend met me and we sat in my car and caught up for another hour. My bladder forced me to end the night, and we parted ways.

I was back home by eleven thirty that night; I went straight to bed and stayed awake until after one a.m. The next morning when I walked over to my neighbor's to feed their dogs, it was so nice to see Noah's car sitting in my driveway! I ended up swimming at the neighbor's house that day with Trish and Marilyn. It felt so good in their pool!

After that, I left to go to J's house for the rest of the day; we ate dinner, we did a few errands together, and we watched a movie after. It was a great night, but Sunday morning came sooo early!

After church, Marilyn and I made plans to have lunch together to mark the milestone day for me. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the day my life forever changed; my life is now divided into two time periods: before my divorce and after my divorce. It's been the longest, shortest, most difficult, beautiful, tumultuous, and peaceful year of my life. I've come a long way when I think back on the days following my ex husband's bombshell news.

The smiles you see in these pictures are genuine; I've never been more thankful for the tribe of people I have surrounding me: my family, my friends, my church people, and even the new people I've met in the last year. I never wanted a divorce, but now that I am divorced, I am content with life and how it has turned out. It's not always easy, and some days are better or harder than others, but I wouldn't change a thing. Well, maybe I'd take away some of the stress from early on, but other than that...

I am so grateful for this woman's friendship! I couldn't have made it through the last year without her; I tell her all the time that she's stuck with me forever. After we parted ways, I came home, got comfy and started season 2 of America's Sweethearts on Netflix. I ended up showering and calling it an early night since I didn't sleep much Saturday night. I didn't necessarily want to stay at home last night, but I ended up being okay with it after all.

What did you do this weekend that you loved? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends! Love to all.

P.s.

It's hard to believe this is the last week of June! That being said, this Saturday the 28th will be Share 4 Somethings, so here's your  friendly reminder to join me. This is a monthly post when we talk about some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of this month. Additionally, Wednesday July 2 will be the next Currently link-up. In July we'll talk about what we're currently loving, savoring, celebrating, remembering, and trying.

  1. Enjoyed reading about your weekend! It looks like it was a good one even when you had to pivot with plans. How wonderful that Noah arrived safely and was reunited with everyone. What a historical weekend with it being the one year anniversary of your life change. I was thinking about all of the other people this impacted- your boys of course but also anyone close to you and your ex. So many ripple effects of a divorce and you had no control over its occurrence . Well, you made it to the other side, have moved on, are stronger and hopefully know how much those in your life love and care for you. Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you! I'm learning to try to accept when those changes happen last minute, and I am constantly reminding myself to lower my expectations. It's been a struggle learning that, but I am getting better at it by the minute. There are so many (terrible) ripple effects from a divorce; we're all forever changed. But I made it through and I'm continuing to grow and learn about this new life daily. I always appreciate your sweet words of encouragement, my friend. xoxo

  2. We just started watching Waterfront too! We had a pretty fun weekend with a date night on Saturday and a graduation party on Sunday. It has been so HOT but we didn't let that stop us.

    1. I think I made it through three episodes; J and I started over when I got to him on Saturday, and he liked it too. That sounds like a fun weekend! I'm the same as you- I'm not going to let the hot weather stop me from doing things I want to do! I have my second summer concert this weekend; I'm going to see Old Dominion with J Friday night. I know it'll be hot, but I'll take a cold shower before I go to bed.

I started Waterfront, too! I finished DCC in two days! I love the blue biker shorts. That is a great color!

    1. It's okay! No worries at all; the day ended up being really nice, actually. I enjoyed being at home that night because I was so tired from too little sleep the night before. I'm on the last episode of America's Sweethearts now! I love it, though. Thanks for the new shorts love! She has a blog called Stacie's Ramblings, but she hasn't written there for the last couple of years. I think she plans on getting back at it eventually!

  5. Grown kids in the house is always a day brightener! I haven't watched the new DCC...usually my younger daughter and I watch together (separately) and text throughout. We haven't had time to do that yet. I haven't heard of Waterfront. We need a new show so I'll check it out. Have a nice week!
