Happy Thursday, friends! It's been so long since I've made a Thankful Thursday post; it seemed appropriate for today as I'm close to wrapping up my first week of working full time again. I'll jump in!
I'm thankful for a work place that feels like home, for people that have welcomed me, and for the friendships I have with people there both new and old! I'm working with a previous co-worker again at this school; we worked together when my kids were in elementary school, and she was Drew's second grade teacher. I was so surprised to see her there Monday morning!
I'm thankful that public speaking doesn't scare the daylights out of me like it used to! The principal actually had me come to the front of the auditorium and introduce myself with a microphone on Monday morning; I thought she just wanted me to stand, the speaking part surprised me. I went with it, though, and it was fine. Singing in choir on a stage has helped me with with this, so I know to make good eye contact and to speak with confidence.
I'm thankful for fun things to look forward to! I haven't actually been alone at home since I've started working this week; I had plans Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday nights I had company, and tonight I'm getting a much needed hair cut. It's okay for this week, but I know I'll have to slow my roll once the students come back.
I'm thankful for lunches at home! I've been coming home to eat lunch each day so that I can help with the dogs and let them out while Jonah works. Hopefully his schedule will clear up some in the coming days so that Stella won't have to sit for so long in her kennel. I'll miss leaving campus for lunch when the students return, so I'll enjoy this for as long as I can. I might join some co-workers for lunch out one day, but for now it's been nice to come home and decompress a little since I'm so close.
I'm thankful for fun Fridays to look forward to at work; I learned yesterday that it's an easy day for us all day on this day each week. Often this is the day that we get PTA treats, as well, or fun lunches, so I know I'll love Fridays even more this year!
I've had fun getting dressed this week! I won't dress this way when the students start, but here are the outfits I wore each day this week so far. I need to clean the bedroom mirror, so please don't judge.
I love that you are taking outfit pictures! I think you hit the right note for the staff only work week. When the students come, the priority is comfortable shoes. I would start with dresses (with biker shorts under if you have to get on the floor) and sneakers. Then, flowy pants or any light pants you have. Or, do a combo of those each week. You will get the feel for how the staff dresses and that will help you as time goes on.
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy this week! I loved coming home for lunch on teacher days. Jonah may need to get someone to come to let Stella out. We have a max of four hours that we leave EO in the crate. I don't see him getting freedom any time soon since I can't trust him when I go to the bathroom.
For sure, don't plan so much next week. You will need time at home. Or, plan only a couple of things.
It's a fun part of getting dressed each day, for sure! So far my shoes have been great; I may need more options for sneakers, though. The Dr. Scholl's sneakers have been my favorite...I'll probably buy two more pairs, but even the sandals did great so far! I am SORE today...I was up and down on a ladder all day yesterday, and I'm feeling it this morning. Today will be a little more chill. I'm definitely being at home more next week! I may go out once or twice, but this is where I'll want to be so I can crawl into bed at eight each night and watch my phone. 🤣
DeleteYour outfits are cute and I hope your time with students goes as well as this week has. When I sub at one of the schools, I can come home for lunch but I only do if I'm subbing in this one classroom that leads to the parking lot where my car is. It only saves me a minute or so if I'm in this classroom but every minute counts when lunch is only thirty minutes!! Anyway, back to you- I'm glad you're staying busy. When the students arrive, you will likely be more pooped by the time you get home and won't want to be so busy. Maybe? I guess time will tell! Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope so too. The good thing is that I won't have each group of students for too long each day, so even the challenging ones won't be an all day issue. I think the teacher's attitude is everything, though...she is the kindest person, and I love her personality. She said something yesterday about how hard she works to make relationships work...I can totally see this in her so far, and I know we'll be great together. I for sure am staying home more next week! 🤣
DeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed your first week! I love the romper!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I ordered three more. 🤣
DeleteI love your outfits! my 2 favorite outfits requirements are the 2 C's -cute & comfy! you seem to have perfected that! I'm not sure if you ever shop at Maurice's but they have some really cute but polished loungewear. They have some pants in that line and I bought 1 of each color they had! I love them! they look super cute paired with a cute graphic tee-I love graphic tees! I hope you have a great and easy transition to your new job! Happy for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I like your two C rules. I would agree with both! Thanks for the tip on Maurice's! I've heard of it but have never been.
DeleteI am so glad to hear your week is going so well! Yay! Your outfits are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI am so happy that you have settled right back in at school. Good job with the public speaking, you are braver than I am. It sounds like Friday's are going to be lots of fun for you!
ReplyDeleteYour work outfits look great! Professional but comfortable.
Thanks, friend! I did well, I feel like...

That is fun! I like that too, and plan on dressing according to how the others dress each day.
DeleteI liked the denim and black. That is my favorite combo. I hope you have an amazing school year!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love black with denim too!
DeleteHappy back to school!! Our county teachers went back today and I said to my son, "is it bad that I still get sad that I'm not there too?" - I guess when it was the love of my life for so long there will always be that yearning, although I know WHY I'm not in the classroom - ha! You will soon get to navigate all the challenges that is today's public school culture. Glad people with your Light are still in there :). Your outfits seemed perfect for the week - it's fun to have a place to get dressed up to go to!
ReplyDeleteAw! It is such a fun time of year. Thanks for that, friend!
DeleteYour outfits are so cute and look comfy too. It sounds like you're connecting and reconnecting with so many work friends - so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am, and it's been such a fun week!
DeleteYes, so happy for you! I love the denim shirt!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm so glad we got to see each other tonight!
