Happy Tuesday, friends! I haven't done a blog post like this in a long time, so I thought I'd talk about a few random topics here today. I'm including this picture above because I'm bringing back my Thankful Thursday posts soon; it's been way too long, and I need to start doing this again for my own wellbeing, both mentally and spiritually. Life is strange!
This image made me laugh last week. It's true! I've sent this to several people, and I say it in a snarky way when I don't know what else to say. Do you do this? Or do you let loose whatever it is you may be holding back from someone? I actually do a good mixture of the two these days.
Same girl, same lighthouse, twenty-nine years apart, almost to the day. A lot of life has been lived in those twenty-nine years! Some of it was good, some of it was hard, all of it was worth it all to have what I have today: four amazing sons that I love with all of my heart.
I love a beach, friends. For years I said that I didn't enjoy going to the beach, but I don't know if I was just saying that or if it was actually true. Maybe I said it because I never went to the beach? I'm not sure, but now? I love it so much that I almost always get a little emotional when I see the vast ocean. My heart was on the verge of exploding when Trish took this picture of me in Maine a couple of weeks ago. There is something about that salty air that I could breathe in for days. I love the sight of it, the sound it makes, the wind, the sand or the pebble beaches, I love it in the hot weather and I love it in the cold weather. My love has no limits for this vast part of creation that God made. Maybe that's why I love it so much: it reminds me of His vastness and my smallness. It's humbling!
You all know the friendship level that Marilyn and I have; I feel the need to mention it today, because she gets me through my days a lot. I call her in the mornings before I go to work, and I talk to her a lot later at night as well. We've had to adjust our routine of meeting so often when I went to work full time, but we're making it work! We met for dinner at our Salad Station last night; apparently we had so much to catch up on that we didn't even take pictures of either our food or of us. You know a lot of talking went down when that happens! 🤣
Have you been embracing all things fall yet? I don't think I ever did a bucket list...realistically I know I probably won't keep it if I do make one, so I'm not losing sleep over this. I love this image with so many great fall movies, though! I've been watching the Hallmark variety lately; I'll move onto Christmas after Halloween. This stresses me out a bit, knowing I'm really far behind already with the new ones, but such is life these days.
Well, that's all I've got time for today. Did any of these speak to you today? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!
Jenn

I agree with you about the beach! I think when the children were smaller I didn’t enjoy the beach as much just with the sheer exhaustion I had from being at the beach with kids lol! I do enjoy it so much now though. Sand doesn’t even bother me and I could stay there for hours and be perfectly content! I grew up in the mountains though so the I only visited a few times in my childhood- we’ve lived much closer in my adult life to the ocean!
ReplyDeleteI agree that sometimes we need to just sit down and count our blessings! I read a book a few years ago that I didn’t like surprisingly even though everybody else loved it- but in the book she talked about a gratitude journal and I try to keep that. It helps keep me centered and content!
Also- yes. “ok” means they messed up somewhere- especially if it’s lowercase! lol I hope you have an amazing week!!! Loved reading- as I always do :)
I look forward to the thankful Thursday posts! I planned to do this for the month of November. I love the lighthouse comparison photo and what you said about the years in between. What a blessing to have four beautiful sons!! I need to work on watching movies on that fall list. I know I’ve seen several of them, but it’s been so long that I don’t remember. What is your favorite fall movie?
ReplyDeleteThere's not much positive going on with this year's fall...The government shutdown will soon result in millions of folks getting kicked off medical care and food assistance. If it continues there is the danger of social upheaval, food riots and folks freezing to death since federal assistance for heating/power is cut off as well. SMH.
ReplyDeleteI am one of those people who will reply with "ok" and people who know me well know that everything is not ok.
ReplyDeleteFab photos from the lighthouse and you look so happy on the beach.
You and Marilyn are as the kids say, friendship goals! hehehe It is great that you have that friendship!
I am starting on the Christmas movies on the 1st of November!
I love the "OK" image from above! That is SO me! lol I'm a sucker of recreating pics. So nostalgic. I haven't watched many fall movies, but am definitely ready for the Christmas movies and books! I took 8 years off from blogging but am getting back into it. I love the outlet to "scrapbook" for my family and the connections I get to make with others. I look forward to connecting!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree about the beach. Just being near the water relaxes and invigorates me all at once. I love the 2 pictures 29 years apart!
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are so neat from the lighthouse! Speaking of pictures, I thought about that later that we didn't take any last night. Maybe I was distracted, ha! So thankful for our friendship!
