Happy Thursday, friends. I hope you enjoy today's different spin on a post about being thankful.
Today, I'm choosing thankfulness. Not because everything is perfect, but because gratitude has a way of softening even the hardest edges of a week. On this Thursday, I'm pausing long enough to notice the quiet blessings I usually rush past—the way the morning light felt kind, the simple comfort of routine, the people who make my days feel a little less heavy and a little more hopeful.
I'm thankful for the small things that stitch my life together; the warm cup in my hands, that laughter I wasn't expecting yesterday, the text from a man who makes me smile with every word he says, the strength I didn't know I still had.
I'm thankful for the big things too: the love that steadies me, the friendships that feel like home, the faith that carries me forward, and a heart that's learning—slowly, beautifully—to open again.
A Thursday like this reminds me that gratitude is its own kind of grace. It shifts my mood, lifts my spirit, and brings light into places that need it the most. I'll embrace that light today and I'll do my best to share it with everyone I come into contact with.
What's something you're choosing to be thankful for this week? Is it an actual thing? A person? A moment in time? I shared a sweet moment with Chris Tuesday night when we met for dinner. Come back tomorrow and I'll tell you more about it then. Thanks for being here to read today, friends. Love to all.
Jenn

This week I'm thankful for a few days off to nurse my sore throat. I've been able to get all my Christmas gifts wrapped, the budget done, the groceries bought, a few meals made and now I'm ready to go back to work for the next 3 days.
ReplyDeleteI just commented on your blog! I am glad you're starting to feel a little better with your sore throat. You got so much done during that time off! Teach me your ways, please. I really struggle with this right now!
DeleteHey Jenn, I'm just now seeing this because I went to work and then my sore throat turned into a full blow cold! yuck. But to answer your plea about getting stuff done...on the days when I feel good and motivated, I do as much as I can. That way, on the days when I feel like doing nothing, I can do that too. I also work in spurts. I do a little, sit a little, eat a snack :) Then I do a little more. I just keep working in little time frames until things are done. I also make sure to get the most important things on the list done first, just in case I run out of steam. Hope this gives you some motivation :)
DeleteThis is such great advice, Debbie! Thank you!
DeleteAmen! Gratitude has such a way of lifting the spirits...such a healthy practice. I am grateful for keeping up with my wrapping-has never happened before but it is a small step in not feeling overwhelmed this season
ReplyDeleteIt really does! That's great that you're doing that this year. Every small thing helps!
DeleteI'm thankful for Tom. He isn't a big words guy, and he doesn't talk about what he does or try to get praise for it, but he shoveled before work and found snow pants for Mason. He moved Mason's car and removed snow from it. He did some adulting tax things for us this week, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a great thing to say about your hubby! I totally get him being like this. What a great guy to you and the boys.
DeleteIt's those small things which make me smile the most. You have a lot to be thankful for. This week I am thankful that my eldest seems to be on the mend after having a cold and so far hasn't passed it to the rest of us.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! I'm glad the rest of you are staying healthy and that she is feeling better!
DeleteMy super power is worrying….so every time an irrational worry pops into my head I count my blessings and/or say a prayer. Hugs from Waco!
ReplyDeleteWhat?! That's my superpower, too! Seriously, that's why I started memorizing Scripture years ago...it counteracted the worrying. I use gratitude a lot for a change in my perspective. I love that we're able to do these things, though! Thanks for that, my friend. I feel them!
DeleteNice post! I'm thankful for: your blog, kind neighbors, kind health-care providers, my dogs, and cozy sweaters. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for that! Those are all such wonderful things. I'm also thankful for my neighbors!
