Share 4 Somethings -- May 2026

Happy Saturday, friends! I'm so glad you're here today; thanks for linking up with me again this month! Today we're here to talk about something we loved, something that sustained us, something we're carrying forward from this month to the next, and something we're making space for. I'll jump right in!

This month I loved...

...reminders like this...

...thoughtful gifts like this mug for Mother's Day and Teacher's Appreciation week...

...visiting the new Barnes & Noble in town...

...the calendar being flipped to May...

...all the beautiful foliage that looked so green and vibrant after rain...

...seeing my sons outside enjoying life with friends on the back porch without a phone in sight. I love these people and consider several of them bonus kids! My OG bonus kid Alex is pictured back there, too, in the black hat. I love him and am always so happy to see him when he comes around!

Something that sustained me...

...realizations like this one above...

...prayers like this...

...and reminders like this. All of these things sustained me this month, along with really good conversation with lots of people.

Something I'm carrying forward from this month to next...

I'm carrying forward moments like these captured above. It's almost a new month, and I am ready for some new memories! I consider each weekend a new opportunity to do new things with my guy, and he's always up for whatever I want to do. I won't see him next weekend; he is hoping to have one of his motorcycles ready to race by then, and he'll be off in Steele, Alabama. I'd hoped to go with him, but I'm dog sitting.

Something I'm making space for...

I'm making more space for daily reading! Most of you know me really well, and how much I've missed reading. My brain took an almost two year hiatus on this favorite hobby, but your girl is back and getting better than ever. This book is amazing, by the way.

I'm making more space for lunch dates with friends and for dining al fresco while I can. It'll be way too hot before long, so I'm basking in the moments for now.

I'm making space for intentional time spent getting things done before work starts back. Also, I have a little life update! I had applied back in the early spring to work at our summer learning camp (old fashioned summer school) this year, but I didn't think I'd gotten the job, because I never heard from HR. Then this week, I got the email! So I have two weeks off at the beginning of the summer, then will have four weeks of summer learning camp (only Monday-Thursday), then I'll have an additional two weeks off at the end before returning back to work at the end of July. I'm grateful for this opportunity, because I didn't really know how I was going to make it without getting a paycheck...I get monthly alimony, but that doesn't cover all of my bills.

Once again, I have to sing God's praises, because never once has He let me down. Things always turn out, no matter on the timing or how it might look different. Additionally, my other side hustle is helping friends out with their dogs while they vacation. Any extra money I make will go directly to my savings account! You know me...I'm an open book here, and I always hope that a little part of my story encourages someone else on their own journey in life.

Thanks for being here to read and link up today! I can't wait to read all of your answers to the prompts over the next few days. I'll see you back here on Monday. Love to all!

  1. Yay for getting the summer school gig! That mug is so cute. I was thrilled to turn our calendar to May and I'm pretty excited about turning it to June too.

  2. I love the green foliage after the rain too. After visiting a more arid region last week, I'm more appreciative of the many shades of green in my own state! Kids without phones - I love this too. It's wonderful that you're making space for more reading again. Books are so sustaining to me. Thanks for hosting!

    1. It's funny how different we feel about where we live when we return from a trip. I always think that after I've left and then come back home. Books are sustaining to me as well! I'm so thankful that I'm able to read again.

  4. Well done for getting the summer job! I think it's wonderful when things fall into place. However, I am convinced that when we put good energy out there, a lot of good stuff finds its way back to us. So, well deserved :)
I am always amazed that the new school year starts as early as late July in some places. Whilst I would not say no to a free late May & June, teaching in scorching August is probably not for the faint-hearted.
Wishing you and Chris a lovely weekend.

    1. Thank you for your kind words! I agree about school in August; it's way too hot. There are tons of days with indoor recess because of the weather!

  5. What a nice Share 4! Congrats on the summer job! Between that and dog sitting, I hope you will have some cushion this summer. Two weeks doesn't seem like much but it makes you intentional with your time and the summer program should be less intense than the school year and hopefully you can still do things after it ends each day!

    1. Thanks, friend! It doesn't seem long, but it's plenty long for me, honestly. And I will have time at the end of the day to sit around doing things that bring me joy...whether out and about or at a pool somewhere. Thanks for linking up today!

  6. I wish we lived in the same town, since I would love to have a good dog sitter like you! Summer school sounds like it will be a great option while still giving you time off. I guess they don't spread your paychecks over the 12 months like they did when I was a teacher? Hope you have a good weekend!

    1. I do, too! That isn't an option for classified staff, only certified staff. I wish it was, though!

  8. I'm not sure if it was this post or your Weekending post, but the comment about how much life can change in a year is such a truth, right?? Sometimes everything seems so one-sided (boring, hard, never-going-to-finish) and then you look back, write a post like this, and you can SEE what has changed, growth, and perspective. Congrats on the summer job, too. . .good that you can have some structure to your summer (if that is what you like). The families that have you sitting with their pets are lucky you are available!! And I'm sure the extra $$ is always nice to have - as well as access to those pools, huh???

  9. I love when I can see God working little details like that out! It's so humbling and also just makes me feel so seen and loved. I'm glad that you got the summer school job!
