the Wednesday hodgepodge

Happy Wednesday, friends! I'm linking up with Joyce for today's hodgepodge post. I'll jump right in!

1. Fall arrives this week in the Northern Hemisphere. Does it look or feel like fall where you live? What's something you love to do this time of year that makes you feel that it's officially fall? I have never in my life been so excited for the fall season to arrive! It doesn't look at all like fall, but today the cooler temps are starting to roll in, and I am thrilled. One thing I love to do that makes me feel like it's fall is that I love to sit outside on the patios of restaurants. Maybe it'll even be cool enough tonight to do this!

2. What's a small daily task or chore that always seems to fall through the cracks when your schedule gets busy? I would say all the things fall through the cracks when my schedule gets busy. I use Saturday mornings for getting my life back together at home these days.

3. What's something you're falling for lately? I'm falling for the thought of cooler temperatures and something cozy to wear.

4. Pumpkin is a popular flavor this time of year. Are you a fan? What's your favorite pumpkin flavored food or beverage? I'm not a huge pumpkin flavor fan, but I like it in a cake.

5. What's something you wish would never change? Explain. The good times in life. It's hard to look back on memories. I know change is necessary, but it stings.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I was in a great mood when I started this post today, but my day kind of took a turn later in the afternoon. I'm feeling a little melancholy at the moment, so this is probably a good time to stop writing and just go to bed. Here's to a better tomorrow!

Love to all.

  1. The quote about being irreplaceable in the home is a good one! I like to eat outside as well and at some point in the fall, the bugs make their glorious exit, making outdoor dining that much more enjoyable. Agree that change is necessary though it stings. I hope your today is a good one, friend :).

    1. I liked that one too, and remember loving it especially when my sons were young. Yay to less or no bugs in the fall! Change is inevitable; some days I'm okay with it, and then other days end on a very sad note, like yesterday. Here's to a better today, though!

  2. I hope you have a much better day today then. We've only got a few weeks or so left of sitting outside to eat as the cooler temps usually bring windier days too. I managed to sit outside for lunch yesterday and it was wonderful but by dinner my cushions had blown away and I had to go chase them down.

    1. Thank you! That's sad that fall doesn't last that long for you. I can picture you having to go chase them down, and it made me smile. Thanks for that! Ha! I read on Amy's blog that you're having issues sitting and reading...trauma does that to your brain. I hope that lifts for you soon. It took me so long to pull out of that, and though I'm still not the reader I once was, it did finally get better for me. I hope it gets better for you soon! Keep trying!

  3. Awww, I'm sorry you started feeling melancholy. I hope you feel good today and can sit on that gorgeous patio. We are going to a guitar concert tonight! A rarity! Poor Eddie Otis will wonder why his parents are going out. I wore a cardigan yesterday! You're close to sweater weather!

    1. Thank you! It's okay. I didn't sit on that one, but I did end up on another one, thanks to my son's friend who called and invited me. I love that y'all have music plans tonight!

  4. I think going to sleep is a good thing to do when the blues start to creep in. Mornings often help us see things differently. Outdoor dining is one of my favorite things. We have eaten out on our lower patio even in the heat this summer, but it's covered and we have an enormous fan and shades to keep the sun out so it's been pleasant. Not fall pleasant, but still nice. Hope you have a good day!

    1. I think so too. I literally thank God for all of the new mornings that He gives me. I always need do-overs! Thanks, friend. It was a good day.

  5. I have been happier about the cooler weather here too. It's still warmer than usual at this time of year but the mornings are chillier.
Sending love and hugs. I hope today is a better day for you.

  8. You have been through so much these last three years that would have stopped a less faith filled person in their tracks! I love the advice on the illustration and the house looks so much like ours?! It looks like cool temps are coming to Waco next week—anticipated but bittersweet transitioning from pool time. Big hugs to you !

  9. I'm sorry for the hard day :( You have been through A LOT lately, and I can see where you might have a hard day here and there- honestly I would be having a hard day every day! I also wish the good times would last and time wouldn't be robbing us of our people.
