hello Monday

Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Mine was both fun and low key, with a mix of highs and lows, honestly. It's funny how that happens from time to time, and the power of words that people have. I let some things mess with me this weekend that were very upsetting in the moment, but I'm trying to move past. I talked to Jesus about this yesterday as I got dressed; I asked Him to help me let it go and to learn and to move on. Something I've learned is that is that the power of words is only as strong as the thoughts that are tied to it in the time that follows. When I keep remembering something, I ask the Lord to help me to let it go and move on. All I can do is pray about it on my end and to try to learn a lesson from whatever happened.

It is what it is, right? And why do I keep saying that phrase? There is some truth in those words, and also in the popular phrase that I think was coined by Mel Robbins on Instagram: let them. If someone wants to judge me or think ill of me, let them. They'll think what they want to think and all of the endless fretting on my end won't change their minds or thoughts. All I can do is live my life for Jesus as best I can.

These are deep thoughts for a Monday morning, friends! Let's lighten it up some and move on with the weekend. Here's what I did:

It rained on Friday, so I enjoyed a leisurely morning at home. I finally got out and did a few things, including going to Chick Fil A for lunch. I was in Memphis for this, so I decided to call Marilyn and ask if she wanted company; she did! I stopped by her house and we hung out for a while before deciding to go to dinner and run an errand for her.

There's an excellent Mexican restaurant in Memphis called Las Delicias that is so good; their chips are homemade and the salsa and guacamole are to die for! I might have had a margarita that was so large that I had to lay down after we got to Marilyn's house.

Case in point! 🤣 It took a bit for it to wear off. Once it did, I went home and was in bed before ten, but I ended the night on a phone call. More about that in a minute...

Saturday morning found me getting dressed to meet up with my mom and sister that day.  We had lunch, and stopped by our favorite shop again, this time for Mom. I'm always up for doing this!

This ribbon library never gets old!

We weren't out too long; I came home and did a few things, then changed and picked up Marilyn for our night out. We went to a new (to us) place called The Owner's Box to watch The Kentucky Derby.

It was fun! We couldn't hear that well, but we got the gist. Had a I betted, I would have won! My pick was Sovereignty, and he won. We weren't out late, because we had church yesterday morning.

And I sat in the lobby for church. I was a good little bit late going in, so I sat on the couch instead of walking in. I came home after church, hung out with Marilyn for a bit when she stopped by, then left for an afternoon date! I met someone at a restaurant at one thirty, and made it back home from that by six. We sat there for four hours and talked! 🤣 I met him on the app I'm on, and love that he's local to me. I had an early night after that; I had a snack for dinner, showered and washed my hair, and went to bed early.

What did you do this weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Just a reminder that May's Currently link party will take place this Wednesday; in May we'll be talking about what we're currently loving, looking forward to, leaving behind, letting go of, and looking at. I hope you make plans to join us! Thanks for reading today, friends. Love to all!

    1. I needed a lot of Marilyn time this weekend! It started with Thursday night and included each day of the weekend. I've never been so glad to have someone to walk through everything with! It was a really great way to end the weekend; I'm glad we met for "lunch" at 1:30 so that we could have that long to just sit and talk. I came home afterward and washed my hair, then worked on blog stuff for this week. It was the perfect ending to a Sunday! I'd love to chat this week if you're game! I can share. ;)

  4. First of all, you're looking tiny! I'm glad you're enjoying the app and having fun with it. That's a long date lol, so must have been going well. Your words about how we can't control what other people think or say about us are so true. Keep being you!

    1. Thank you for that! I've put a few pounds back on since Louisville last weekend, so my goal this week is to get them all back off. 🤣 I'm going to go walk some more this week if the weather permits! It was a long date! I was glad we met for lunch instead of dinner, because it gave us more time. We had a lot to talk about, apparently. 🤣 Life can be hard in that way of others and their opinions, right? I'm the type of person who cares what people think of me, probably way too much. I'm learning to let some of that go. Sometimes that's easier said than done!

  5. That is really good advice, that the power of words is only as strong as the thoughts that are tied to it. Very wise words! I always think to myself if people are judging me they are at least leaving someone else alone.
There is so much talk about Mexican food today, I am really craving it now!
It sounds like a good weekend!

    1. Thank you, friend! I believe it to be true. That' s a good way to think, but I don't want to be judged either. Ha! I know I just had Mexican on Friday and again yesterday, but I'm probably going to have it again tonight. I just can't get enough! I hope your week gets off to a great start, friend! xoxo
