Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Mine was both fun and low key, with a mix of highs and lows, honestly. It's funny how that happens from time to time, and the power of words that people have. I let some things mess with me this weekend that were very upsetting in the moment, but I'm trying to move past. I talked to Jesus about this yesterday as I got dressed; I asked Him to help me let it go and to learn and to move on. Something I've learned is that is that the power of words is only as strong as the thoughts that are tied to it in the time that follows. When I keep remembering something, I ask the Lord to help me to let it go and move on. All I can do is pray about it on my end and to try to learn a lesson from whatever happened.
It is what it is, right? And why do I keep saying that phrase? There is some truth in those words, and also in the popular phrase that I think was coined by Mel Robbins on Instagram: let them. If someone wants to judge me or think ill of me, let them. They'll think what they want to think and all of the endless fretting on my end won't change their minds or thoughts. All I can do is live my life for Jesus as best I can.
These are deep thoughts for a Monday morning, friends! Let's lighten it up some and move on with the weekend. Here's what I did:
Case in point! 🤣 It took a bit for it to wear off. Once it did, I went home and was in bed before ten, but I ended the night on a phone call. More about that in a minute...
And I sat in the lobby for church. I was a good little bit late going in, so I sat on the couch instead of walking in. I came home after church, hung out with Marilyn for a bit when she stopped by, then left for an afternoon date! I met someone at a restaurant at one thirty, and made it back home from that by six. We sat there for four hours and talked! 🤣 I met him on the app I'm on, and love that he's local to me. I had an early night after that; I had a snack for dinner, showered and washed my hair, and went to bed early.
What did you do this weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Just a reminder that May's Currently link party will take place this Wednesday; in May we'll be talking about what we're currently loving, looking forward to, leaving behind, letting go of, and looking at. I hope you make plans to join us! Thanks for reading today, friends. Love to all!
It sounds like a nice weekend- glad you and Marilyn were able to get together and yah for making a new friend :). Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteWe saw each other a lot this weekend, and I am so glad for that! We both needed it; I didn't even mention Thursday night, because we were together then as well. Yay for a new friend! It was a great way to end the weekend.
DeleteLots of Marilyn time and that sounds like a successful date! 4.5 hours? Ok, I will need more details!
ReplyDeleteI needed a lot of Marilyn time this weekend! It started with Thursday night and included each day of the weekend. I've never been so glad to have someone to walk through everything with! It was a really great way to end the weekend; I'm glad we met for "lunch" at 1:30 so that we could have that long to just sit and talk. I came home afterward and washed my hair, then worked on blog stuff for this week. It was the perfect ending to a Sunday! I'd love to chat this week if you're game! I can share. ;)
DeleteNothing a big ole margarita can't fix ;) Hope you are feeling better- you are crushing life AND I am thrilled to hear you went out on a date- woohoo! Can't wait to follow along- anyone would be lucky to spend time with you XO
ReplyDeleteRight?! Thanks for that, sweet friend. It was a really fun way to end the weekend; I love that it ended on such a high note. That's such a sweet thing to say! I hope you have a great Monday, girlie!
DeleteFirst of all, you're looking tiny! I'm glad you're enjoying the app and having fun with it. That's a long date lol, so must have been going well. Your words about how we can't control what other people think or say about us are so true. Keep being you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for that! I've put a few pounds back on since Louisville last weekend, so my goal this week is to get them all back off. 🤣 I'm going to go walk some more this week if the weather permits! It was a long date! I was glad we met for lunch instead of dinner, because it gave us more time. We had a lot to talk about, apparently. 🤣 Life can be hard in that way of others and their opinions, right? I'm the type of person who cares what people think of me, probably way too much. I'm learning to let some of that go. Sometimes that's easier said than done!
DeleteThat is really good advice, that the power of words is only as strong as the thoughts that are tied to it. Very wise words! I always think to myself if people are judging me they are at least leaving someone else alone.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much talk about Mexican food today, I am really craving it now!
It sounds like a good weekend!
Thank you, friend! I believe it to be true. That' s a good way to think, but I don't want to be judged either. Ha! I know I just had Mexican on Friday and again yesterday, but I'm probably going to have it again tonight. I just can't get enough! I hope your week gets off to a great start, friend! xoxo
DeleteSo glad we hung out last weekend! Monday to Thursday seemed like a long time!
ReplyDeleteUgh! I hate when a conversation just keep playing over and over in my head.. I think about other things I should have said or keep ruminating on what that other person meant and it really is rather pointless because my obsessing isn't going to change any part of the exchange. On the other hand your date sounds great! Good for you!
