Happy Monday, friends; I have missed all of you so much! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's blog post. How was your weekend? Mine was really good, pretty low key after coming back from vacation late Friday night. I'll quickly recap and then sign off...because I have a vacay recap post coming up tomorrow. Stay tuned!
This was how my weekend started: walking very quickly through O'Hare to make my last flight home, and then landing back in Memphis. I was so glad to be landing at home! Are you like me in this? Once vacation is over and the travel starts, I'm ready to be done with vacation and safely back in my own home. There really is no place quite like it, right? Chris took Trish and me to the airport the day we left, and he also offered to pick us up when we landed close to ten p.m. Friday night. I love that he offered to do all of this; I didn't ask for this and was going to depend on one of my sons to be my drop off and pick up person.
These were what he greeted me with when I got into the vehicle Friday night. I confess to swooning a little, friends. It's been a hot minute since I've been on the receiving end of flowers from a man; I'm excluding the ones I've gotten from my sons or one of their friends when my life was imploding last year. I was so glad to be home that night and back in my own bed!
I slept in some on Saturday and put my house back together. I had left my closet a bit of a mess, so I straightened that up and then unpacked and started laundry. I enjoyed a leisurely morning and my own iced coffee while I just laid on the couch and scrolled social media. I eventually got up and got dressed and then left home. I got my nails done, then I met Chris for a late lunch.
I'm into brown right now, so I went with a bronze toned brown called Chocolate Pie. It went with what I had on that day! I met Chris at "our" favorite Mexican restaurant, possibly one of the best I've ever been to. It's somewhat close to his house; after we ate, we drove into Red Banks for La Michoacana ice cream. We made one other stop before heading back to his house. He's trying to get things put together in his new home; what actually ended up happening was that we watched a movie and then proceeded to sleep through almost the whole thing. 🤣
I didn't stay at his house long because bad storms were heading that way, but I ended up getting stuck in them on the drive back. I almost had to pull over twice, because it was so bad that I could barely see. I just drove really slowly with my hazards on the whole time so that other people would see me. I ended up grabbing dinner from Chick Fil A (it was eight p.m. by this time and I was hungry again), then I took it all over to Kendra's house. Her son was there with his girlfriend, and because of her small space, we ended up in her room sprawled out on her bed while I ate and we caught up. I told her our friendship crossed over to a new level that day. 🤣
I got us both a cookie from CFA; have you had the chocolate chip cookie from there? It's my favorite! I wasn't at Kendra's house for long since I had to be at church bright and early the next morning for praise team rehearsal.
I went to lunch with Mom and Bill after church, then Marilyn came over for the afternoon! It was so good to see her; it'd been way too long and we had so much to catch up on.
We sat right here all afternoon and talked; Jonah came in at one point and entertained us a bit while he regaled us with friend drama. Look at how Stella was sitting for him! She's so funny. For the rest of the day after Mar left, I made some taco soup and got ready for my work week. I put away groceries that I'd ordered, packed my work bag, and then watched a Hallmark movie while I worked on my blog for this week.
I was living my best fall-loving life on Sunday afternoon; our high that day was in the mid sixties! I put on my new sweatshirt and stayed cozied up inside. Our temps are amazing this week, and I'm hoping the fall weather is here to stay. How was your weekend? What did you do that you loved? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!
Jenn
Welcome home! I´m sure it was wonderful to be back home and sleeping in your own bed; looking forward to hearing more about your time away. Those flowers are so pretty and how thoughtful of Chris :). I do like CFA´s cookies quite a bit. A few years ago, I was on a mission to find a good copy cat recipe of them. I found and tried several online. None were exactly the same and I determined that when I want to taste one, I´ll have to get on at CFA :). Glad you got to catch up with your besties once home. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's good to be home, even though vacation was amazing. I thought it was thoughtful of him, too! Life is about the small things, and this was such a loving thing for him to do to show me how much he missed me last week. The CFA cookies are delicious...I've determined that it's the oats that I like in them. I hope you enjoyed your weekend!
DeleteYour nails look so good. I do like those CFA cookies! Have a good day back to work!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love this color. They're so good, right? I hope you have a fabulous day as well, my friend!
