the Wednesday hodgepodge

Happy Wednesday, friends, and happy October! I'm here with Joyce again today for the weekly hodgepodge...this is a post that I dearly love; thank you, Joyce, for your inspiring and thought provoking questions each and every week! I'll jump right in.

1. What do you like most about your family? There are a million things I love about my sons. They're kind, they're funny, they never complain, they're best friends with each other, they're always smiling, their attitudes are almost always great, they love other people, they're helpers by nature. I could go on and on all day long, honestly. They're amazing human beings!

2. What's something nice that happened to you recently? I was boo'ed at work yesterday! This just means that someone gave me this little Halloween basket filled with goodies; it's anonymous and after you're boo'ed, you then pass it on to someone else. Isn't this fun?

3. Do you like the color orange? Besides a pumpkin and an actual orange, what's something orange that you love? I actually hate the color orange, but I love a golden/orange colored sunset.

4. What's something you have now that you couldn't have imagined having five years ago? How does that make you feel? What's possible now because of it? The life I have now isn't one that I'd have imagined having five years ago, but you know what? I'm okay with it, 99.9% of the time. Some days it feels sad and shocking, but I love it almost all the time. It's possible for me to work and have this carefree life now because of the fact that I'm without a husband. I fluctuate all the time about what I want in the future...and I don't know if I ever want to get remarried, honestly. I love my freedom that much. (The picture below is of my two favorite single ladies! I'm so grateful for their friendship.)

5. Let's wrap this up with an October this or that...

pumpkin bread or apple cider donut
cozy sweater or cozy hoodie
apple picking or pumpkin picking
scary movie or Hallmark movie
hayride or corn maze
twinkle lights or candles
autumn hike or autumn bonfire

6. Insert your own random thought here. This is late! So my random thought is that my life usually takes precedence over my blog these days. I sometimes run out of time and don't have the time to plan ahead. I'm not complaining! Thanks for always being around to read here even when I don't show up regularly. Love to all!

Jenn

  1. I completely agree with your random thought. My real life takes precedence over blogging most of the time. And I can remember when I used to blog *about* my real life. Sigh.

    1. I totally get you on that! I like that my life takes priority over writing about it, because I feel like I'm living it for the first time in years. I do sometimes miss blogging about it, though...

  4. I always say you have to live life before you can blog about it so keep enjoying the days and catch up here when you can. Our neighborhood does a boo thing, although with cameras it's become harder to remain anonymous. Still fun though! Have a great day!

  5. You've got to prioritize life over blogging; I'm just in a really boring segment of life right now where I have tons of time for blogging! LOL That boo basket is so cute. It sounds like you work in such a fun school.

    1. Yes! I agree. I've had that kind of time before as well, so I know what that feels like. It's such a fun place to be!

  7. Boo baskets are not a thing by us, I have only ever seen or heard about them from blogs.
I have been divorced for 13 years and said that I would probably never get married again. I understand where you are coming from, recently I have been changing my mindset about married. I have learned to never say never. (I also said I would never get divorced)

    1. I say that same thing...never say never! I am in zero hurry for any of that, but I can see going back and forth. It's hard to imagine giving up this kind of freedom that I have right now...but I know I would give it up for the right person (WAY down the line). It's interesting, how life turns out, right?

  8. Your life should take precedence! Loved your answers! I think your sons must be just like you!

    1. Thank you! I agree about life taking precedence. They are a lot like me! I love this about them. My friends say the same thing, that they've got my personality/outlook on life. I love this!
