Friday Favorites, 1.9.2026.

Happy Friday, friends! How has your week been? I'm not going to lie, my week has been rough. I knew that the week would kick my butt, but I wasn't prepared for the degree of which that would be. Add to that the fact that I've had a sickness on top of this, and well...you get my drift. I'm glad to be feeling a bit better by now, and I'm really happy that it's Friday. I'll jump in with some favorites from the week.

Kendra came over Sunday night and we had fun browsing Pinterest for ideas for our vision boards that we want to do for 2026. I hope to get started on this over the weekend, but we'll see if that actually happens. Being creative and spending time with friends is always a favorite!

Even though re-entry has been tough this week, I've seriously missed going to work everyday! My co-workers are some of my favorite people, and I missed them during the two weeks off. Getting dressed is also my favorite, and this week's theme was surviving in comfortable clothing. Today is actually comfy/cozy day, which I'm thrilled about, but I was comfy everyday this week. The one day when I had a lot of white on was the day we surprised the students by having a white out day, in hopes that it would bring about some fluffy precipitation. Unbeknownst to us when we scheduled this back in December that it would be 70 degrees that day! 🤣

This image from IG was a favorite thing this week! Remember the ins and outs trend from last year? This makes me want to bring it back.

This is one of my favorite quotes!

Favorite hallway by room 304! I missed seeing students on Monday; it was so good to see their sweet little smiles on Tuesday.

Girl dinners are my favorite dinners!

Do you spy my little green bracelet? One of my favorite fifth graders made me this for Christmas in a little gift with this, a candy cane, and a packet of Swiss Miss. She thanked me for being a friend and a "kind teacher" to her, and she gave me this saying that they didn't have a lot of money for gifts. First of all, y'all. This is the sweetest and favorite thing that I got, by far, because it was from her heart. Secondly, I've known this sweet baby since she was in the second grade and her dad had just died. She is a little angel! I cried over her heartfelt gift and I've been wearing the bracelet.

Finding seasonal screensavers for my phone is one of my favorite things; I went with the one at the top of these three pictures.

Someone hung this magnet on the door frame of our break room at work, and it's one of my favorite things ever!

The best/my favorite medicine to take at night when I'm sick!

Y'all. Home has been my favorite place to be all week! Call it re-entry, me being tired, or being rundown...I've been home and showered/in pajamas by eight every night this week. I am not mad about this and know that my body has needed the rest. I'm looking forward to the weekend! What was a favorite of yours from the week? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

Jenn ❤️

  1. Jenn, I hate that you were sick the first week back! I like the vision board set up and it would make the process a lot easier to think of things to add. I've never done one! I'm curious about those pizza rolls Marilyn made. Y'all need to share the recipe :)

    1. Thank you! It definitely added to the tired-ness I felt all week. I love the vision board idea, too, and can't wait to get started! She emailed me the recipe, I will try to remember to share it here next week. Happy Friday!

  2. I just can feel your tired-ness after being in your shoes for so long! Now you get me! I would come home, and it was all I could do to make dinner and then I would sit and eat dinner and sometimes fall asleep immediately after dinner. No joke! People have made fun of me but until you work with kids of any age and having to be "on" all day and make so many decisions and answer so many questions they will not know "teacher tired"!
With that being said, the rewards of feeling that I helped someone were unforgettable. I love the sweet bracelet gift. What a sweet baby. Your kindness will stay with her her whole life - you do realize that! People won't remember what you said but how you made them feel!
I miss my students so much! But, I also knew it was unsustainable and there is no way I could have continued to do a good job had I stayed.
And, to be sick on top of that...I am so sorry! I hope you have a quick day today and you feel better when you wake up tomorrow!
I love the vision board and doing that with a friend is even better!

    1. Now I get you! I have been doing that every night. I've been sleeping for like ten to twenty minutes at the end of everyday. It helps, especially when I have to keep going for obligations that I have, like on Wednesday nights. I know you miss that part of your job; the students are the rewards of the hard work. Thank you for that reminder, I believe it's true. That's what a lot of the kids said to me on the cards they gave me for my birthday and Christmas. I feel like it's such an honor to be a small part of their lives!

I can't wait to do the vision board. I'd love to stay home tonight and do just that. I may if I don't go see Chris!

  3. Aw, sorry to hear you've been fighting off some sickness! That bracelet is so cute; things like that are so touching. I'll take a heartfelt handmade gift any day of the week. I remember once when I was working at the day care a mom gave each of us teachers a mini poster she made where she had written a poem and inserted hand and foot prints of her son. I'm pretty sure she bought us something small to go with it but all these 30+ some years later it's the poem I remember most.

  4. Staying at home has been nice. I have enjoyed my time too and I know that with us not feeling 100%, home is always good. I am glad we had Tuesday together and lots of phone time! You made it this week! Love you friend!

  6. Hello, sweet lady! I am sorry you are sick, and I pray you shake the flu soon. I have heard it is bad! I totally get the tired. I have been exhausted this week, too. I think the holidays, as much as I love them, are tiring as I get older! Love all your outfits. You always look so stylish! Have a great weekend, my friend!

  7. I'm so sorry you were sick for the first week back. It seems that sickness is everywhere right now, and I'm hoping our family continues to avoid it! I hope you're feeling much better now! I love that your student made a bracelet for you... so sweet! My Olivia makes those same Rainbow Loom bracelets and I have a whole collection from her so I wear one every single day... I have one to match every outfit! Haha. Hope you have a restful weekend that gets you back on track for a much better week next week!
