Friday Favorites, the first of 2026! {1.2.2026.}

Happy Friday, friends! I'm not sure who all is posting here today in the blog world, but I can't pass up an opportunity to share some favorites from my week. It's been such a fun, festive two weeks of Winter Break! I can't believe it's time to go back to work/school on Monday, but I'm also excited to meet up again with my co-workers. We'll have a day of easing back in on Monday without students; it'll be back to business on Tuesday. Okay, I'm jumping in with some favorites from this week!

I shared about this yesterday in a short post for New Year's day, but one favorite of mine this week was completing year fifteen of reading the Bible chronologically. I haven't done this consecutively for that many years, because I vary things up from year to year sometimes, but that's how many trips I've made it through the Bible. I finished it on Wednesday and started all over again on Thursday. I love this way of reading the Bible each year, and I'm the type of person who believes that you need a plan to read the Bible. I know I'm one who sticks to a plan more than just reading something on my own. It's only day two of this, so if you want to join me, come on! I use the YouVersion Bible app on my phone; select the white and blue plan of The Bible Recap, and follow the steps to get started. It's that easy and only takes about twenty minutes a day! All of us have at least that to spare, right?

Another favorite this week was taking down my Christmas and replacing it with winter/Valentine's day. I love starting a year with a freshly cleaned house! This week was no exception.

This was a favorite thing I saw on socials this week! It's good to know these things beforehand, right? Hello, I'm Jenn, and I work in an elementary school. I need to know these things beforehand! I promptly sent this to my friend group that I have lunch with each day at school this week. They need to know as well!

This was another favorite thing from socials this week. This feels so true!

Yet another favorite thing from Instagram.

My favorite night this week was New Year's Eve! Chris, Kendra, and her guy all came over and we went to dinner and then came back here to get comfy for a game night followed by a fire in the fire pit. We loved sitting outside while we listened to music as we rang in the new year. There was laughter, singing, some slow dancing, a little kissing as we welcomed in 2026; it was a really fun night. I'm so glad we hung out here, though!

Thursday was an easy day. I slept in really late, I went to breakfast, then I stayed home for the rest of the day. I took a nap and eventually went to pick up Marilyn; we went to eat at Mom's and Bill's house for an early dinner. This was delicious! We had smoked sausage, black eyed peas, corn, turnip greens, fried okra, and cornbread.

One last thing for this week before wrapping this up...another non-favorite was that Chloe had a setback in her paw recovery. Poor baby! We've had to get her back onto an anti-inflammatory, and she's being closely monitored. What were some favorites from your week? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

  1. Poor Chloe'! Sounds like a fun ending to the holidays :) I never make it past 10:00 or so on NYE. Just can't do it anymore :) My favorite from this past week was having my 3 girls over for a sleepover. By 6:30 the next morning I was making waffles and bacon. Needless to say...I was tired that night!

  3. That is impressive that you´ve read the Bible that many times through in a year! This will be year two of not reading the Bible through for me. I felt like I rushed through each day´s section when I did that. I´m glad that I´ve it through and may do it again in one year. But anyway, I´m glad you´ve found a way to read that gets you excited about the Word and reading it :). Your new year´s plans sound really nice and how wonderful to be able to sleep in the next day. Next week will be a big change but at least you´ll have one day to acclimate yourself before the students come in. Have a great weekend!

  4. My hubs and I read through using the recap this year too. Such a blessing! We're doing something else together this year, but I'm still listening because I like the structure of the Bible Recap. So glad you had a fun NY Eve. I am a fan of something at home that night, or at least no driving. Happy 2026!

  5. Congrats on the Bible reading! Your good luck meal looks good and your NYE looks low key and really nice! I don't sit around a fire enough.
Enjoy your last weekend off! Do something for just you! My Christmas is down, too, but I didn't put V Day up yet. I guess I could? Good idea!

  6. Poor Chloe! I hope she is better soon. Way to go with the Bible Recap. You're an inspiration to me! I'm going to do Father Mike's Bible in a Year podcast for the year. Your NYE looks so fun!

  8. Happy and Blessed New Year!! I enjoyed sharing some moments from this week with you! I still have Christmas up, but will be removing it soon. As much as I love it, it loses its charm and magic after Christmas comes and goes. I too look forward to a clean, fresh home to start the new year. Have a cozy weekend, my friend!

  9. Good job with reading the bible.
Even though it looks bare in here I am glad to get the Christmas decorations down and give everywhere a good clean.
My eldest works in a care home and says the residents are always a bit more chaotic when there is a full moon. I will send her this so she knows when to be on her guard. hehehe
It sounds like you had a lovely New Years Eve!
Oh no! Poor Chloe! I hope she is better soon.

  10. I was so glad to take down all our Christmas decorations this week too; I love them but after a month they really start to feel like clutter and I just love having that clean slate feeling to the house... though I'm waiting to really tackle actual cleaning until everyone goes back to work, school, & college on Monday. It's much easier to clean when no one is coming along behind me. It sounds like you had a really lovely New Year's Eve! Wishing you all the best in 2026!
