Happy Thursday, friends! This week feels fast, since school was out on Monday. I know this isn't always the case with a short week, but it's like that this week for me for some reason. I missed choir last night again, because I didn't want to take a chance on making my throat sore when I sing. I feel better now, but my throat hurt so bad the last time I sang that it took almost a whole day for me to get it under control again. That's another reason that the week feels fast and a little strange...because I was diagnosed with the flu last week, the doctor sent me home for the rest of the work week; I missed Thursday and Friday. Anyway, fast does not equal bad, please hear me say that. I love a fast week, and we're anticipating snow! The days have felt fun at school, and the kids are beyond excited over the snow possibilities.
This week I'm thankful for:
- time with Jesus in the mornings
- being back on a schedule after missing work unexpectedly last week
- routine
- the sweet students (who were so excited to see me again on Tuesday)
- a job that I love and that the Lord Himself hand-picked for me
- music that I listen to each morning (and sometimes fall asleep to at night)
- worship music
- a fun place to work
- a basketball pep rally
- getting to catch up with old friends over food and football
- friends
- my amazing family
- that Mom is feeling better after being really sick
- the living, active word of God
- that I finished three books already for the month of January (stay tuned for a bookish post)
- excellent health insurance
- conversations on the phone with Chris
- having a midweek date with him at "our" Huey's, a local restaurant
- hugs
- my Apple watch
- pretty lights in my home that make me smile
- a night of great sleep
- medicine that works
- being able to catch up with a friend on the phone when we can't meet
- candles that smell really good
- the gift of writing both here and in a journal
- that I get to read the Bible everyday
- that I get to go to work each day
- how my life has turned out
- the joy that I feel each morning when I wake up
- pictures of me with Chris that I have in my home
- that he calls me for everything, even though he hates to talk on the phone

Your positivity is contagious! You have a great morning routine! You get to do these things. I think using the word "get" is such a positive mind shift. It just changes everything. I have had a really good week. I am so freaking happy about your books this month! Let me know if I should read the three that you did.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you for that, friend! I love my morning routine. This week I've been waking up twenty minutes earlier to afford me more time in the morning. I love a morning and doing this makes it feel even longer and luxurious before going to work. I also love using that word "get". I wake up in the morning and thank God for getting to live another day, and that I get to go to work at a job that I love. I really do think that joy is contagious; a positive mindset is life changing, and a smile goes a really long way. That's why I love the car rider line every morning. I love getting to greet students when they see me!
DeleteYou would really love the book Awake by Jen Hatmaker. The first paragraph sucks you right in to her story. It was raw and beautiful.
Love your morning routine! You get so much done and I can sense the joy in doing it all!
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend! I do get a lot done; I've always been a morning person. I love that it feels like a long, leisurely morning at home before I go to work everyday. I started waking up about twenty minutes earlier this week, and I'm loving that extra time!
DeleteI am glad you are feeling a bit better now. You did right skipping choir, you have to think of your health before anything else.
ReplyDeleteYou have a fantastic morning routine and what wonderful things to be thankful for.
I am glad your mom is feeling better too.
Thank you! I really do love my morning routine.
DeleteFrom one routine thriver to another!! I'm retired and still thrive on my routine:) Glad your throat is not hurting and hope you can sign again soon. I know you love doing so!!
ReplyDeleteYes! I totally get this about you. Thank you, friend!
DeleteWow —I was ready to take a nap after reading your routine. You are like the Energizer bunny getting up that early and doing all you do the rest of the day! We are expecting snow in Waco Sunday so the kids are excited here too!
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh! I really do love getting up so early to enjoy a longer time at home before going to work. Oh, wow! I hope you get some!
DeleteYes, I love my Bible time and prayer also
ReplyDeleteI love that!
DeleteWow! Look at you reading 3 books this month. I am sure that thrilled you. I know how hard you've been working to bring that habit back.
ReplyDeleteThank you! This made me so happy. I'm determined to read this year!
DeleteLove this so much! This week I have been so thankful for an "uneventful" life. So many coworkers of mine are dealing with health issues, family issues, etc., and it has honestly been so nice to not be having to deal with anything major like that right now.
ReplyDeleteMaddie~ Thank you! I love that you're thankful for that; I don't blame you and would feel the same if that was what I was surrounded with. I consider myself extremely fortunate as well, because my little family of five is blessed with good health and jobs that support them. Thanks for sharing that today!
ReplyDeleteAnd here my morning routine is talking to myself to convince me it is time to get out of bed, ha! You are doing great my friend!
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh! You're doing great as well, my friend. Some days survival is all we can do!
