Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a great weekend! I can't wait to hear from you at the end of today's post. I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's blog post. I'll jump right in!
By the time I got off work on Friday, I was so ready to start the weekend! It wasn't a bad day, but the day just felt long. I didn't love what I took for lunch, so I convinced my friend to order lunch for us; we got Chicken Salad Chick, and it was delicious! I headed to Chris's as soon as I left work. I made one stop along the way, and made it to him by 5:30. I have missed this drive! It dawned on me as I was driving that I've seen this road in all the seasons...late season, fall, winter, and next up is spring. I thought that was really cool that we've been together that long. I met him at his house, then he drove us to to a really great barbecue place that we've missed.
This is The Rib Shack, and I think everyone in town was there that night. I love that small town life, because people mentioned it being good to see us again. We usually get a couple of different things, and then we share. On Friday night I got smoked chicken, and he got the brisket. Both were amazing! We took the leftovers back home.
We love to go to Trade Days, a big event where he lives near Ripley, on the first weekend of each month. The previous month was canceled because of ice and no power; this month was packed! It was eighty degrees by the time we got there after breakfast and a coffee stop that morning. The last time we did this we were able to rent a golf cart; this time there were none available, so we walked. It got hot quickly, so after one loop, we left. I helped him get a few things ready for his week at home, then I left...but he actually followed me home. I loved this! We enjoyed a full day of doing things together, most of which were of the mundane variety. He made a fabulous dinner for us, and we watched F1 together...well, he watched and I fell asleep midway.
I loved turning the calendar from February to March! I'm so ready for spring.
I was on the praise team Sunday, so I was there bright and early. All the adults sang from the loft and the kids/students were all on the stage. It was a multi generation worship day, so we had kids in preschool, elementary, middle, and high school singing with us. These are always my favorite days! Chris and I went to lunch and then to Kroger before coming back to my house. We both got stuff to make for our lunches this week, so we did that together, and I made him coffee to last him all week for his iced coffee that he drinks every morning. I love doing things like that with him; it almost feels like we're a married couple except for the saying goodbye part. I miss him the second he leaves, and I usually cry. Honestly, so does he. We hate the saying goodbye part.
Meanwhile, I love that he loves to take pictures with me.
These are terrible pictures of me, but he sure does make me laugh and smile really big. I'll get to see him at least two times this week, which will be nice. We may shoot for a third time, depending on what we have going on.
So what did you do that you loved this weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!
Jenn

Boy your weather turned hot really quickly!! We got up close to sixty on Saturday but by Sunday it was in the twenties but felt even colder than that :(. Your weekend looks nice. Almost all of the seasons- I love thinking about markers like that in the mundane things like being on a particular drive or stretch of road. It sounds like a great weekend with Chris. Also, we both had Chicken Salad Chick on Friday for lunch :). Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteIt really did; it felt almost like summer all weekend. It was a good weekend! I love that too...and I hadn't thought about it until I drove down this road again. I go another way when it gets dark earlier, but I was able to go this way again, thanks to the later setting sun. It was nice! How funny that we had the same thing for lunch on Friday!
DeleteWow! I can't believe how hot it is there! I am so so jealous! Love hearing about your fun little weekend with Chris- so happy for you :)
ReplyDeleteIt really did get hot fast! Thanks, friend. I hope your week gets off to a great s tart!
DeleteNice weekend! That iced coffee looks good! I can picture the trade days. This is a very hard time to get dressed. It's so cold in the am and then hot in the afternoon and you also have to be comfortable in the school building. I hope your week goes quickly and fills your cup.
ReplyDeleteWe have rain now that is supposed to be snow. It looks like a lot of rain coming this week.
It was! You are so right. I think I'll dress for spring and take a sweater or jacket, though. I actually get cold in my classroom, believe it or not. Thank you! I am hoping for the same thing. Oh no! I hate that you have rain/snow in the forecast.
DeleteHow cool that you have seen the road to Chris's in all seasons! The Rib Shack sounds like a great place to eat!
ReplyDeleteIt was good to turn the calendar, I am ready for spring too. It is the same here, I never know what to wear, the weather can change so quickly!
What a wonderful Sunday at church. All ages being involved is so special.
I know! I love that I've seen it in all the seasons. I hope you've had a great day!
DeleteI'm just excited that our temperatures will get above freezing this weekend. We woke up under a "cold warning" this morning. So while there was lots to comment on in this post, I'm just focused on the warmth!!!
ReplyDeleteI know you will love that added warmth!
DeleteOh wow; I know that sounds too hot for you but 80 sounds heavenly to me (it was 14 here this morning)! Your Sunday outfit was so cute.
ReplyDeletePerspective is everything. I bet you're ready for spring, too!
DeleteWhat a sweet weekend! Looks like you two had a great time together. I think that I have told Caleb nearly everyday the last week or so "I hate getting dressed for this weather." Ha! I didn't realize you're in Memphis- not too far from me in Starkville!
ReplyDeleteI think you look beautiful in the photos and so happy, which makes me happy for you. It looks like you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend :)
