Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah to talk about mine.
Friday started off in the normal way: I woke up early, made coffee, read blog posts, then ended with making my lunch and quiet time before getting dressed for the day. A couple of weeks ago, my friend Cathy from work mentioned that she'd found an additional copy of her favorite devotional book at Goodwill over the summer. When she asked if I wanted it, I said yes, because I love Paul David Tripp! Work was good on Friday; it was a normal day that went by pretty quickly. After work I came home for a little while before picking Marilyn up for dinner. I requested Mexican so that I could get a soft serve margarita.
It was packed! We sat at the bar because of that, which I never mind. It's fun to people watch while sitting at a bar, and I always love watching what goes on behind the scenes. Are you like this? After dinner, we went to her house to watch the movie Bridesmaids together. We both needed some laughter, and that provided us with some! When I came home, there were several people here and the music was bumping. 🤣 Jonah had made dinner for some people, and they had football on while listening to music (and Jonah's really loud singing). I love hanging out with my adult "kids"! I went to bed with Oakleigh...I kept Graham's dogs for him all weekend, since he went out of town. I'm not used to having a dog in my bed anymore, but I slept surprisingly well. She doesn't move around a lot, which was good.
I was up early on Saturday to let my these dogs out, and to take care of my friend's dog for her. When I got back home, I watched tv for a while before getting up to clean and start laundry. I did this for a little while before going back upstairs to get dressed and make my bed. By getting dressed, I mean that I put on my swimsuit and coverup. I went to my friend's house and turned on football while I laid on her couch and cuddled with the dog. Annie doesn't eat while they're gone, so she was able to do that while I was there inside with her. Shortly after that, Mallory and her mom were there to swim with me. We snacked and we swam for a little while, but the pool was cold! We came back to my house around four and sat around talking all night until about ten. It was a fun night, and we ordered good pizza for dinner.
These are the only pictures I took from the day, which I kind of love. I love it when life takes over, and I'm able to be present in the moment. This is Mallory's mom, Jennifer. I love her and appreciate how much she loves my son! (Also, how funny...one more Jennifer in my life.) It was a great and very full day; I went to bed with a happy heart.
I had an easy morning on Sunday; I stayed home again and enjoyed drinking coffee for a little longer than usual. It was nice! I went over to Graham's house to help him out some before he came home and ended up being there for a few hours. I did a few other things around the house that day and got ready for the week. It was a good weekend, and once again, one I'm grateful for. I feel ready for the new week! What did you do over the weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!
Jen

It sounds like a nice weekend- glad you got together with Marilyn for dinner and lots of laughs. How fun to spend time in the pool with Mallory and her mom- you two kind of look alike in the picture of the two of you? Jonah sounds like the life of the party-it is fun to hang out with adult "kids," lol!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great weekend. I love hanging out with them! They've become my weekend plan so many times, and we've gotten so much closer since Chris died. She was here a lot in my home that week, which I love and appreciate. I love that we're close friends now, and we do kind of resemble each other in the picture! Jonah is definitely the life of the party! I love hanging out with my grown up sons!
DeleteOh yes, I love people watching! It sounds like you had a lovely weekend. I think it's so funny that you have so many Jennifers in your life. I think I've only ever met one other Joanne (though of course that's not how she spelled her name as there is a million ways to spell it).
ReplyDeleteThere are so many of them! I can't get away from the name. Ha!
DeleteWe love to sit at the bar. It's great for people watching and we enjoy chatting with people around us, and usually the server too. Sounds like you had a relaxing weekend and it's nice you can take care of your son's dogs when he travels, and your friend's too. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteYes! I love that, too. I also usually have a good conversation with the server, though on this night they were too busy. Thanks, friend!
DeleteIt seems that it's your lot in life to be surrounded by Jennifers and dogs! Lol! I also love sitting at a bar if the stools have a back and I don't feel like I'm mounting a horse. The soft serve margs are just soooo cold. Ouch! Burn!
ReplyDeleteThis made me laugh; you're right! I get wanting a back; these had backs, I'm glad to say. They're cold, but yum!
DeleteWhat a fun weekend Jen! I wish I could still have pool time- already too chilly here- boo! Have a great week at work :)
ReplyDeleteIt was! I can't believe it's already that cool now, but I peeped you in the long sleeves over the weekend. Thanks, friend! I hope you have a great week as well!
DeleteThat dog looks just like my Mollie. It's so crazy how the pool water cools down so much faster than the outside temperatures. Hope you have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! It is so strange how that works. Thanks! I hope the same for you, my friend.
DeleteIt sounds like you had a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do like a bit of people watching and having a nosy what goes on behind the scenes. It sounds like Jonah had a great evening, adult kids are a lot of fun!
That's a shame the pool was cold but it sounds like you had a great time anyway.
It was! I love that you like to do the same. Adult "kids" are so much fun!
DeleteI'm so glad you had a great weekend! I sent my boys out of school early today to enjoy what may be their last really hot pool day, its supposed to be in the 70s this week and they won't swim when the air is that cool lol. I won't miss summer this year, its been far too hot!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see you doing well! I've been praying for you! I'm glad you had a great weekend and I hope your week is full of extra blessings!
Thanks, friend! Aw, what a cool mom. That's great that you did that! I greatly appreciate those prayers. I'll keep healing and grieving and living...I may miss him all the time, but he wouldn't want me to be stuck wallowing over him for too long. I hope the same for you!
DeleteOnce again, it was great to see you each day of the weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes! I loved that we had all of that time. I'll take all of it I can get.
DeleteLooks like you had a lovely weekend. I love slow mornings while easing into the weekend. The margarita looks refreshing. I hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI did! Thanks, friend. I know you get those slow mornings! There's nothing like them. I hope the same for you!
DeleteThat does sound like a great weekend! Our pool is cold, too, even though we have still had some hot days. It's like the pool even knows it's time for fall!
ReplyDeleteWe had a busy sports weekend with homecoming at our school!
