Friday Favorites, 11.4.22.

Happy Friday, friends! I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika for this favorite weekly blog post.

Can you believe it's November already? I cannot. I know everyone says this, but it's just going by so fast and I want time to slow down. This is my favorite time of year—people are nicer, they're smiling, joy seems palpable in the air, the spirit of generosity and giving is strong in lots of people and people are more willing to talk during this time of year than any other. Aside from this time being my favorite through the year, a new month is also my favorite thing. I'm starting one of my favorite quiet time traditions again and I started writing out Scripture again for this month and will continue on in December. I've already shared about that this week, but I'm saying it again because I'm already loving picking up that habit again and maybe you missed out on some of my blog posts this week. I do try not to be redundant here.

I love doing this and have been writing out Scripture for about seven years now, but I took a break from it in 2022. I'm not sure why, because nothing gets the word more into my head than writing it out daily. I've also been more diligent in spending time with the Lord every morning BEFORE I go to work, instead of after. It's taken me this long (since the end of July) to finally get into a morning routine working part time three mornings a week.

It's no secret that Hobby Lobby is my favorite store. I ran in there on Saturday to pick up a new journal, and couldn't help but take a few minutes and browse through these aisles. I actually left without making a purchase, believe it or not, because I never could find a journal. So, I went to Target and got one there instead, and also came across my favorite cleaner and hand soaps!

I'm still using Acorn Spice cleaner and hand soap, but I'm running low and with Christmas coming, I didn't want to to miss out on my favorite scent of all. Mrs. Meyer's peppermint scent is the BEST. The other bottle you see is the Apple Cider scent.

Two of my current favorites are in these two pictures above—this cute polka dot sweater from Target a few years ago and my new favorite dark brown lipstick. I wore them to work on Tuesday with my cropped jeans and Hey Dude's that I love. This somewhat made up for the fact that the temperatures rose to over 75 degrees that day.

It wouldn't be a Friday Favorites post if I didn't mention my favorite town! If you're new here, my little hometown is like my own personal Stars Hollow, or a cute town out of a Hallmark Christmas movie. Funny side note: We actually DID have a Hallmark Christmas movie filmed here a few years ago! How cool is that?

Wednesday is always one of my favorite days because it's Bible study day. I love when we have food and fellowship days. I always, always, always takes these quiches to our fellowships, because they're easy, delicious and crowd pleasers.

I love getting my nails done each month, you know that, but this might be my new favorite color. I love the brown and the sparkles!

Getting to work from home yesterday was my FAVORITE! I am such a homebody and it was wonderfully luxuriant not to have to rush out the door to work. (I'm not complaining—I love my job still! It's just nice to work at home every once in a while, because I do really love being at home. I did this so that I could stay home with my dogs and go see my good friend who is also a young mom and needed a favor yesterday afternoon. When I mentioned it to my best friend, she brought me the computer and phone by my house after work Wednesday night.)

How has your week been? What was something that was a favorite for you from your week? I'd love to hear from you! In case you missed out on any of blog posts from this week, here they are below.

I shared about the books I read in September and October on Monday

On Tuesday, I shared a post about random things not mentioned on the blog before.

Wednesday was the Currently link up!

And Thursday was the weekly Thankful Thursday link up.

Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all!

  1. So many beautiful favourites! I have heard that Mrs Meyer's cleaning products have great scents. Sadly they don't sell any in the shops here. I looked on Amazon but one small 16 oz bottle costs $43.90! I love that your town is so cute and how cool to have had a Hallmark movie filmed there. Your glittery brown nails look amazing. I love different shades of brown as well as other neutral colours so I'll have to remember to try a colour like yours when it's our turn to have Autumn. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. 😊

  2. I am lovin the brown gel polish. I found if it has some
Sparkle in the color it does not dull as fast for me. I am always working with my hands.

  3. I absolutely love the Mrs. Meyers acorn spice and peppermint! I will probably skip the apple cider next year because I just buy it for September and think about how much I would rather be using acorn spice. I only buy the hand soap for the kitchen and the cleaner and I swear the cleaner makes me clean more!

I love your nail color. I once got that when I got gel. I am thinking about treating myself to gel because my polish just chips so quickly. I really think my hands look horrible without polish.

So nice to work at home! Do you get distracted? I did ok working from home for a year! March 2020-March 2021! It's something I never thought I would have a chance to do in my profession. I made myself a schedule and I had good balance. I enjoyed many aspects of it.

I love both of your sweaters and your lipstick looks amazing. I need a better lip pencil because I think that is your secret to success. Can you give me your technique and a lip liner rec again?

  4. I love Mrs. Meyer's cleaner and soap! That's all I use in my kitchen and baths. Daisy is my current favorite and though I don't love lavender in oils, it's one of my faves for Mrs. Meyers.

Ok, you have to tell me which movie was filmed there, so I can watch it! It's my dream to live in a Hallmark-ish town :)

I love your nails. What a great color for November!

    Have a wonderful weekend :)

  5. Ruth- I cannot believe a bottle of this cleaner is that expensive for you! Wow. It's definitely not THAT great. Ha! Thanks for the nails compliment! I really love darker neutrals like this for fall/winter. I went in with the intention of getting black or my other favorite, Lincoln Park After Dark, but I changed my mind an hour before and decided on this one instead. I'm glad, because it's different. I hope you enjoy your weekend!

  6. Thanks, Jen! It does make sense that the glitter would help it look fresh longer. I love glittery colors, but usually only wear them November-January. I do a color like this, then bright glittery red, then white with big chunks of white or silver glitter pieces.

  7. Amy, it's funny that those are both of our favorites. I really do love the cleaners and what you said is true- when it smells so good, it does make you want to clean more. I know it does me, anyway. It takes five minutes or less to clean my kitchen and downstairs half bath really quickly, so I like to do that before anyone comes over.

You should TOTALLY treat yourself! I gain nail inspiration from Pinterest. It's where I came up with this one! Some people prefer the gel polish, but I actually prefer the dip powder because I'm clumsy and bumping into things all the time- they're less likely to bend or break with dip powder. My own nails are thin underneath and the dip just makes them so strong. Also, they're less likely to chip and they NEVER start peeling at the edges like the gel sometimes does. You'll have to keep me posted.

I actually did not get distracted while I worked at home yesterday, in fact, I feel like I got more done because I didn't have my best friend to talk to! I will definitely be doing this a little more as we approach the holidays. I'm thinking I may start this on Tuesdays.

Thanks for the sweater/lipstick love! My favorite lip liner of all time is one that can be sharpened, so I usually purchase from Ulta, where I can buy both. My current go to brand is by NYX. I can't ever read the name, I just look at the color on the end and find a neutral color that I like. I outline my whole lip- the edges and fill it in like I'm using it as lipstick, then I put the color over that. I think it makes the color stay in place for hours! My favorite one to put over it is Almond Nude by Neutrogena- it's a fat little lip pencil looking tube with a clear top. It looks great with everything! But I also definitely love this dark brown. It takes me back to my high school days! I've always had a little goth edge since then and love darker colors for lips and nails.

    I hope that helps!

  8. Thanks, Debbie! There were two movies filmed here- one in Memphis, one in my little Collierville and I want to say it was the ones about Graceland. There was a part one and two and the part two used the town square here in Collierville. I can't remember the names of either movie!

I hope you have a great weekend!

  9. Oh I LOVE those nails!! I am such a sucker for any sort of dark, glittery design this fall. We had a hallmark Christmas movie filmed in the small town next door to us too one year and I have yet to actually see that movie. A few of our small towns have that Stars Hollow feel to them complete with gazebos!

  11. Thanks, Maria! I laughed at your daughter despising glitter, because I have always been that way. Until recently! As in a few years ago.

  12. Thanks, Joanne! That's so cool. You should find them and record them, when they come on! I need to do the same and refresh my memory, apparently. Ha!
