weekending & catching up

Happy Tuesday, friends! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's post...honestly, I'm not sure if they're hosting this today or not, so I'm leaving their names with links, but I wanted to share about our eventful weekend.

First, as a mom, I love knowing that our sons are having fun in life. There's nothing quite like knowing that they have things to look forward to, and trips planned. That being said, they've all traveled recently. A couple of weeks ago, Drew was in Tupelo, Mississippi to see his girlfriend, and he's going back this coming weekend. Noah was in Dallas again last weekend, and this week Graham is in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. And this weekend, Jonah is traveling to Branson, Missouri with his girlfriend and her family. I love knowing that they're living their best lives!

Graham left at midnight on Saturday morning. (Friday night?) Needless to say, I didn't sleep much, and don't when they travel all night like that. I actually wasn't at all worried about Graham driving all night, because he loves to drive, and he is exactly like his dad, and can't sleep in a moving vehicle. An interesting fact about Graham is that since he was a year old, he hasn't required much sleep. Some things never change!

Friday's temperature was perfect for reading outside. I sat out there for a while with the dogs while they roamed the backyard, sniffing all the scents.

Do you love a new month as much as me? I loved this that I found on Pinterest! I've been doing all of them.

I started a new Scripture writing plan this month, deviating from the one I said I was doing on Friday. I like a themed plan more than one that isn't, and I love focusing on the attributes of God.

I love having candles lit all the time, but especially during this time of year. I love the scents of fall! This one below is gingerbread, and smells like freshly baked cookies. I want the bookstore to smell good as well, so I bought some fall scented Glade Plug-ins. I'm pretty sure candles are frowned upon there, and I don't want to rock the boat.

Saturday was my sister's birthday, so we went out to celebrate. We had a great time! I love sharing my favorite pictures of us, starting with this one when we were young.

Before I met them, I treated myself to a pedicure. I picked the OPI color, Suzi and the Arctic Fox.

It felt heavenly to sit here and do this. I feel like my feet were abused last week, because I got a blister from a pair of my shoes (on the 2nd toe on my right foot), and because I dropped something on the same foot, and cut one of them. My big toe is the one that has the cut, but she was really gentle with it as she trimmed the nails for me. I don't get pedicures all the time, but this one felt like a glorious treat. I read my book the whole time!

While I was doing that, my youngest son Noah was buying this! I cannot believe he's the owner of a beautiful (used) Corvette. He bought this from a friend; it's a 2008 with only 50,000 miles. He said he's still processing the fact that he owns this! Would you believe his monthly insurance bill went up only $5? It's not necessarily true that certain cars cost more to insure than others. It can be that way, but it also depends on the driver's record, and Noah's is perfect. (Yes, he did just have a wreck, but he was rear ended on the interstate, and it was proven that it was not his fault.)

I'm so happy for him!

After our day out, I came home for a bit, then Todd and I went out to dinner that night. We tried another new place, and it was amazing!

We have never had dim sum before, so we decided to give this a try at the recommendation of Todd's friend. We had potstickers, roasted pork belly, garlic green beans, and a couple of other appetizer sized dishes whose names I cannot remember. It was all delicious, and we will definitely be back. Those garlic green beans were to die for! We didn't really know what to order, and the staff wasn't that helpful, so if not for his friend, we'd have been lost. You know how you can tell how good and authentic a place is by the people who eat there? Our favorite Mexican place is indicative of this, as is our go-to Pho place. This one was the same! We will definitely be making a return trip, needless to say.

I was at church before most people on Sunday morning to get ready for the morning rush that is normal on Sunday mornings, then I was back home and comfy by lunch. I didn't leave home for the rest of the day, and I did the same yesterday. I started and finished a book, I watched Nora Ephron movies, I ordered and picked up groceries, I washed our bedding, I cleaned and vacuumed, and I completed my Bible study homework for the week. It was a lovely day.

What did you do this weekend that you loved and enjoyed? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. I'll see you back here tomorrow for the September edition of Currently! Love to all. 🖤

  7. That does sound like a good weekend and the corvette is so pretty. I'm glad he can enjoy that and it has great mileage on the car too.

Glade plug-ins are a good idea to have at work. I haven't bought any in a while, so I need to look at their fall scents. There is hardly anything better than a fall scent!
