weekending

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's post.

Friday was another dreary day, so Dad and I went to grab our lunch, then we brought it home to eat. I always think it's better for him on days like that for us to just stay in. He gets really sleepy after lunch, so it also gives him time to rest if he wants to take a nap. I was going to get my nails done after Dad left, but I ended up staying home. Do you talk yourself out of doing things like me? I talked myself out of going because I felt like it was going to be crowded, and I didn't want to wait forever. So, I went Saturday morning. I had been wearing black for the last month, so I switched over to my Christmas red.

I love it so much! I love the part of town my nail place is in. The trees are finally showing off in our area, and I took this picture really quick before I left. This is the cutest little area in our town!

The area is Carrington Oaks and has a few shops in a strip mall, including a coffee shop.

This is what it looks like in the summer. How cute is this place? I love a charming area. After this, I went through one of those drive through car washes, and y'all. My worst nightmare happened! First, the young man directing me onto the track had me too close to the vehicle in front of me, and the one behind me was too close to me as well. Secondly, the lady in front of me was having me issues with her car staying in neutral, and she just sat there. As I kept getting closer and closer, I finally had to honk at her to move, but not before I hit her, and I got hit from behind. Thankfully, my car is fine and there isn't even a dent, but can you believe that happened?! I am so glad nobody was with me when I went through there, because usually I have either my dad or my mom and sister with me.

I met up with my mom and sister, and we went to have a light lunch before picking up my sister Lisa from the airport. We made a couple of stops along the way back to Mom's vehicle, but it was a fun day. I'm so glad Lisa is here for Thanksgiving! We all split up after a while later in the afternoon, and for the rest of the night, I was at home with Todd. I ended up just snacking for dinner, since I ate a slice of cheesecake that afternoon while Lisa ate a light lunch after her plane landed.

Todd and I left for church Sunday morning at 7:15, and didn't make it back home until almost one. I took a long nap while he rode his bike, then we had a celebration at dinner at church that night.

Our church celebrated it's 150th anniversary yesterday! It was a big weekend, full of events. A lot of the former staff members and pastors were invited back to be recognized, then there was a huge lunch and a dinner option for us to celebrate as a church family. It was a wonderful day of celebrating and a fun night of being with friends who are a lot like family.

I feel so very fortunate to belong to such a wonderful place of worship. All day long, it wasn't us celebrating ourselves and 150 years; it was a celebration of all God's faithfulness and helping this church endure the test of time. (I found out that it burned down three times, and fell apart during the Civil War, only to rebuild after that war ended.) Our family has attended this church since 2011, and our sons have grown up there. I love that they still consider it their church home and that they know and love our Pastor as much as we do.

It was a great weekend.

Lastly, for a bit of blog business, this Saturday November 25th is the Share 4 Somethings link party that I host, where we talk about things we've loved, learned, read, and ate and/or enjoyed throughout the month. I hope you make plans to join us!

How was your weekend? I'd love to hear about yours! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all!

  1. Oh no - the car wash! My car is badly in need. I go to only one that I can handle - I know the drill. It is not manned by a human and no one is ever there when I go. I faced my fear a few years ago and learned how to do it. Lol! I'm so sorry!
What a full weekend you had!
Ok - those nails are one of my fave. I bought press ons that I hope look like that, but I don't think they have as many sparkles - bummer. When I used to get gel, I got that exact color!
Love! Love the area of town, too!

  3. Amy, I know! I was shocked that happened. I will go back, but I won't pay attention to when the attendant tells me to pull forward and will wait until I feel a safe enough distance. He was new at the job and I was a bit irritated that they weren't more concerned, truthfully. I'm just glad I didn't damage my car. I love the Christmas sparkles! Thanks for that! You would love this area in town...we have several more spots like that.

  5. I am so sorry that happened with the car wash! Ugh, but so glad no cars were damaged and that it didn't escalate.

What a great celebration for your church! I know that was encouraging to be a part of that.

I hope you enjoy your week and love that Christmas red nail color!

  8. Love the red, sparkly nails. I feel like I talk myself out of going places all the time... usually mine is more weather dependent but I will definitely talk myself out of it if I think it will be crowded too.
