Happy Saturday, friends! Sorry about the late start to this post; would you believe it totally slipped my mind? This may not be shocking to you, now that I think of it; anyway, better late than never! I'm glad you're here to link up with me today for Share 4 Somethings, when we talk about some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of this month. I'll jump right in!
I loved all the travel and fun things I got to do this month!
I also loved celebrating the fourth of July with my brother Trey and his son Jax while they were in town and staying with me. It's been an epic month!
I learned (am still learning) that actions speak louder than words.
Something that went well was the redecorating and repainting of my home!
I love how it all turned out, and I'm finding that I love to be in my home again!
Something I let go of again this month are my expectations. I will say this to myself until the day I die; if I go into something with no expectations, it's less likely that I'll be hurt or let down. Life feels hard sometimes; this has nothing to do with my ex-husband and his girlfriend. We've actually been okay recently, which I am thankful for. This has to do with the stupid, shallow dating pool, and being a victim of unspeakable things that men to do women to try to get them to date them these days. It's horrible, and I always am so tempted to just stop trying and meet someone "in the wild" as they say nowadays. I don't want to talk about that anymore, though, so don't pry! I'm trying to forget some things and definitely one person in particular.
I always hate to end on a negative note, so I'm going to talk about some things that I'm grateful for from this month:
- the never ending mercy and love of God
- my amazing family (sons, parents, siblings)
- my friends, particularly Marilyn because she is my safest space and the only one who totally gets my life right now and what I've walked through the last year
- the gift of travel
- meeting a new friend through a traumatic life event and messaging her for hours on end about our similar (very disturbing and scary) circumstances
- loving being at home again
- my new job that I have to look forward to
- life in general~I have so much to look forward to in the next few months
- late night conversations over the phone
- sweet Jerry...proof that I can date someone, end things kindly and in a mature manner, and still be friends with him...he checks on me regularly and sends me funny things over Instagram all the time
- perspective...once again, it is everything
Sorry again about the lateness of this post, but thanks for being patient! I'm glad you were here to link up with me today...I'll keep this up and going for a couple of weeks. Love to all, and happy Saturday!
Jenn
It does look like you had a fantastic month of fun, family time and friends.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are loving your home again but so sorry you are having bad experiences to do with men and dating. Sending love and hugs.
Thank you! There's always ups and downs, and though it's not the most pleasant thing to go through, it's part of life and it's shaping me. I appreciate your kindness!
DeleteI am thankful to be a safe space and the feeling is mutual. How nice you are enjoying being at home again!
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm so glad we have this in each other.
DeleteYour travel adventures look like a lot of fun, and I love your redecorated home - looks beautiful and like a place to enjoy and feel comfortable in! Sorry you had some sour experiences in the dating arena. :-( Praying that everything is much more positive in the days ahead, and that you continue to choose gratitude and joy.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love it so much. It's okay, I will survive this part of it all...even if it just stinks in the moment. I know it's shaping me!
DeleteA fabulous month of travel! Your home looks so lovely and so inviting.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the hard, but rejoicing with you in the good. One of your friends looks like my cousin Chrissy, so I did a double take with the picture, LOL! (the lady in the red/white stripe shirt) I love the pic with the mountains behind you! I am not as late to the weekend party as I have been in previous months. I hope you have a great rest of your weekend and August (how is already August?) is a great month for you. I would love to hear more about your new job.
ReplyDeleteI know several people who are with their SO because someone knew two single people whom the person thought may enjoy getting to know each other and possible date. I'm 0-2 with setting people up, but at least I tried, lol. Your travels this month were epic and yah for making changes to your place that you love! I'm gonna try to write a S4S post for Tuesday. Fun link up!
