ageless style: transitioning from summer to fall

Happy Thursday, friends! I thought I'd talk fashion today, and how I plan on transitioning my wardrobe from summer to fall. I can't say that I've implemented any of these things yet, because we're still in the days of having temps reach close or right over a hundred degrees, but once that weather hits, here's what I'll be doing.

I'll begin by talking about color. I had a conversation with someone yesterday about this; I love bright colors in the summer, but once fall comes, I like more earthy tones in my wardrobe. I plan on wearing lots of creams, olive greens, browns, black, rust, navy, and whatever else I can scrounge up. Also, this is where my wardrobe needs help! I have so much more to wear when the weather is warm. I need to be looking for tops that fit this bill; as it is, I don't have many fall tops. I plan on wearing black pants, leggings, white pants, jeans, and anything else I can find that is thin in material. Here are a few of my favorite looks for this fall that I loved on Pinterest.

I love all of the looks pictured, maybe with a few tweaks to fit my style or body type. I don't really do anything cropped, but I love a sweater or top that doesn't go past my hips. I'm only 5'3, so this works better for me than something long. I have a couple of things that I've bought recently that I've been waiting to wear in the fall! I can't wait to be able to dress more of this way once the temps cool off a bit and when September comes. I'm officially over most of my summer clothes, and I'm ready to start making some of these changes now. I just need it to cool off some first!

I read that loafers are going to be trendy this fall; I've wanted some for a couple of years, but it looks like I may actually buy some this year. I love the look of them and hope to wear them with jeans or cropped pants. Speaking of jeans, I'm also on the lookout for some new jeans. I know what I want, but I'm not finding them yet. I am thinking about another Halara order; if you don't know, I had wild success with the ones I purchased from them last year, but they're too big on me now. I have been adding some items to my cart on the website; I might order this weekend if I don't find anything else that I'm looking for. I might actually have to go into a store and try some on. We'll see!

What do you think about any of these looks? Do you have thoughts or ideas? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for joining in with us today, friends! Love to all! Here are the ladies I co-host with:

  1. I feel the same way about color- love love the bright colors in spring and summer but appreciate more warmth and earth tones in the fall :) Love the looks you shared Jen!

  2. Oh I love these inspirational looks! I've been trying (and returning) loafers for 4 or so years now. I remember wearing nothing but loafers all fall and winter all through high school and college but really can't seem to find a comfy pair. I'm hopeful with a loafer trend there will be many more options to pick from!

  3. I love every one of those styles. They are so me. I do wonder though...where do you buy a lot of your clothes from? You dress so cute all the time and I love the dresses you wear. I'm 5'10" though so it may be easier for you to find dresses that fit you. I struggle with finding ones that are long enough for my long legs but also that don't make me look matronly. Do tell where you find your clothing treasures.

  7. LOVE your sense of style! Sadly, in Waco we do not really have a fall lol. But growing up in Minnesota it was my favorite season!

  8. I am always tired of my summer clothes by this time of year. I'm ready to switch to fall tones, even if it will be awhile til I can wear a sweater!

  9. Those brown loafers are cute! I can't really wear them due to my heel. I'm glad to see that stores are stocking a lot for mules. Those are the best for my heel and they come in some cute styles.
