Currently: August 2025

Happy Wednesday, friends, and welcome to this month's Currently where we'll be talking about what we're currently loving, looking forward to, scheduling, buying, and gearing up for. I'll jump right in!

I'm loving my single life right now; I know this sounds strange after me dating people, but I've decided I don't want a relationship anytime soon. I don't mind going on dates sometimes, but I don't feel like it's something I have to do every weekend. I had an eye opening moment in the last couple of weeks that has made me snap out of whatever judgment was clouding my vision. I love not being tied down, I love not having to consider someone else when I make plans, I love being able to cook/eat whatever I want without wondering what someone else will want, I love coming and going without a thought.

I'm reclaiming weekends for the girls! This was Marilyn and I out Friday night; we had such a fun night on Friday night!

I'm looking forward to all the fun things that come with working in a school environment again: spirit week events, fun dress up days, games to attend, Friday Night Lights in the Ville, and getting to know my co-workers again.

I'm scheduling all of these things as they pop up in my new planner, because I cannot keep up with all of the dates just off the top of my head.

I'm buying clothing items for work as I come across them. I have a fair amount of things for now to hold me over, but I definitely need to add some items to my wardrobe so that I can start a good rotation. I mentioned this last week, but I found out I can wear leggings with long tunic style tops; this is a game changer!

I'm gearing up for students to start tomorrow! I have a lot to remember, and it's going to be a crazy couple of days, but I'm excited to meet some of the ones I'll be with this year. I'm still learning the layout of the school and anticipate getting in lots of steps each day. That's a great thing! And our school is massive. They call the new back wing East Tennessee. 🤣

Next month we'll be talking about what we're currently loving, beginning, ending, picking, and posting. I hope you make plans to join in with me again! I'll leave this link up for a couple of weeks in case you want to join in later. Thanks for being here today, friends! Love to all.

  2. Yes, you will be walking a ton most likely! I am so happy you are excited and embracing the school culture. I wholeheartedly agree with your decision to stay and be single for this time. It will happen when it's meant to happen but you need to do you and get to know who you are again. It may sound selfish, but it's not - you are in a relationship with yourself!

    1. I have been already, and I know it'll increase with each day, most likely. My schedule is something I need to sit down and figure out at some point today! I still want to go on dates, and whether it's with one guy or more than one is up to how things go, but I don't want to feel smothered like I was recently by someone. He made me claustrophobic! It's way too soon for any of that.

Have a fantastic school year, it sounds like it's going to be busy! That is great that you can wear leggings, I would be so happy about that. I always wear them under short dresses and tunic tops.

  7. I need the link to your tunic top! Leggings are my favorite thing in the world, and I really need a good tunic! I decluttered all of the ones I had because they were staticky and I hate that! I would love for you to share!
I'm so excited that you are embarking on some new adventures with a new job! And new outings with your girlfriends! Good for you!! I can't wait to hear about your new job! We homeschool but we also participate in a co-op at our church so I'm excited for 'school' events after spending years without them lol.

    1. This one came from Shein! Just look up long denim top, and it should pop up. Thank you for this! I can't wait to talk about it here. I need to get a couple of weeks down pat with students before I can share it, probably as my schedule adjusts.

  10. Aw, I hope you have a fabulous first week with the kiddos back in school! Do you have a strict dress code where you work? I'm noticing more and more teachers up here wearing jeans and leggings and more casual things that I ever remember being able to wear when I was teaching. In fact we had dress down days most Fridays where we paid $1 to be donated to some charity of choice in order to wear jeans and more casual looking clothing.

    1. That's how it used to be with me when I worked in the schools when my boys were younger, but it's no longer like that! I'm glad for this, honestly. Thank you for this!
