Happy Saturday, friends! Can you believe we're at the end of August? This year has flown by with lightning speed! I'm glad you're here to link up with me today for Share 4 Somethings, when we talk about some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of this month. I'll jump right in!
This month I loved all things back to school and work!
...new Dragon attire...
...going to Whiskey Jill's with Marilyn...
...and all the concerts with Marilyn! These were the things I loved this month. It's been a super fun August for me between all of this and work.
This month I learned that I can adjust and adapt easily. This was the month that I started working full time again; I've learned to make better use of my time and to be a little stingy with how I spend my weekends. That makes me sound like a terrible person, but I have one day every week to sleep in, and it's Saturday! I'm taking a note from Marilyn on this.
Something that went well this month has been work! I love my co-workers; I love the students; I love my morning carline duty; I love my dismissal responsibility; I love everything about my job. My days are so fast because I don't stay in one spot; it's broken into 45 minute segments. I'm all over the building, and I love that about my job. Another thing that went well was getting dressed each day; I only had two repeats on outfits this month, but I need more tops now that it's a little cool in the mornings. I've done some online shopping this week! Stay tuned.
Something I let go of this month is the expectation I have of how I thought things would be, not only in life, but in work. I keep trying to be more domestic while I'm at home, but I keep failing. I don't cook, I clean once a week, I'm doing laundry about the same amount. It's funny how I loved being a stay at home wife and mom that loved doing all those things; now I hate them. My thinking is vastly different now that I'm single.
Thanks for being here today, friends, and sorry this didn't post earlier. I put in the wrong start time on the link. I can't wait to read your posts! Love to all and happy Saturday!
So much went well this month! We all need one of those months every once in awhile. Or more:) Enjoy...and here's to the school continuing to be your favorite!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad to be able to say that. I hope you've enjoyed your weekend, my friend!
DeleteI love how you are embracing the changes that this new season of life has required of you- from working to your at home/weekend priorities. Love the school pics- how wonderful to love your job :).
ReplyDeleteThank you! I might as well, right? I don't have much of a choice in the matter as to how life has played out, but I can honestly say that I'm grateful for how it's turning out.
DeleteYou are blessing soooooo many kiddo’s lives in your new career— you have the chance to brighten their mornings at drop off and send them off with a smile at the end of the day. Add to that the academic support you provide—you are a perfect fit! Enjoy the long weekend—their is no tired like teacher tired lol.
ReplyDeleteThat's so kind of you to say, thank you! I hope that is the case. I have enjoyed every second of the long weekend, and I hope you have as well!
DeleteHa! It may not be a single thing so much as a later in life thing as I hardly ever clean or do laundry anymore. LOL I am so sick of those endless chores.... I've even warned my husband that once the nest is truly empty I probably won't be cooking nearly as much either since I am getting rather sick of that as well. I am so glad to hear how well school is going! That is so wonderful to hear how much you love your job. I was a full time substitute for 2 or 3 years in our local public school and I loved that while I showed up every day no 2 days were ever the same as they put me wherever I was needed; some days I was 4 different people by the time I clocked out. It was fun and helped the time pass quickly.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting that you're experiencing the same things! I am like you and may it's just burn-out? Thanks for the kind words, my friend. It definitely helps the time go faster when the day is broken up into different segments!
DeleteI think that is totally ok not to enjoy the household chores as much anymore. I know I don't! Now that we are empty nesters, the cooking happens when I feel like it! That kind of job sounds ideal - moving and interacting with lots of different groups.
ReplyDeleteThings certainly change as the home life changes, right? I always think this is interesting.
DeleteI am so glad you love your job so much! That is amazing. Keep me posted on job openings, :). I have been in the low domestication stage for a few years now, ha! I love that you are enjoying your Saturday mornings. It is my favorite time of the week!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I will! How fun would that be? I get that you've been in this phase for a long time. Thanks for the example of a quiet Saturday morning!
DeleteYay for loving your new job and so many things going well! You are not a terrible person for needing one day to sleep in, we all do! We also need rest and to take care of ourselves, and it sounds like you are doing that (less cleaning/cooking). I hope things continue to go well with your job!
ReplyDeleteThank you! This is so true. I hope you've enjoyed your weekend!
DeleteWe single ladies and educators are doing everything and working hard! I hear you on letting things at home fall to the wayside. I think that’s OK! You have only so much bandwidth, and socializing is so important, too!
ReplyDeleteYour job sounds ideal; I love that you have different duties so it's not tedious. I'm sure you're a gift and a joy to your students.
Yes! I know you get this. Thanks for that encouragement, it's all true! I really do love the job and love that it's so different each day. I hope you've enjoyed your weekend!
DeleteJennifer, I know just what you mean about the shift in duties and what you feel like doing. I was just thinking about this! Now that I'm working, my routines have changed so much. Enjoy your Saturday mornings :) They belong to you. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes! It's interesting how going back to work, whether part time or full time, changes things. I hope you've enjoyed your weekend as well, my friend!
DeleteYou have had so much to love throughout August! It makes me happy seeing you so happy. Good on you being stingy with your time, you need to make time for you.
ReplyDeleteI have! Thank you for that, friend!
DeleteI personally think it's great you're prioritising you on the weekends. As it should be. And as for house work - since COVID (lockdowns) I'm so sick of cooking. I will go to great lengths not only to get out of the effort of it, but to get out of having to eat what I know how to cook. I've found a great butcher who makes these amazing things and all I have to do is put them in the oven....Great shares!
ReplyDeleteThank you for that! I totally get that sentiment and remember tiring of it then as well. That's amazing about your butcher! I'm about to start ordering some meals that are prepared by a small catering company here in town at least once a month just to switch things up. I hope you've had a great weekend!
DeleteWe all have seasons of life. You may come back to enjoying those things again or you may not. You did it for a very long time! Love all of your things this month!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a true statement, and based on the comments above, I'm not alone in this. Thanks, friend!
DeleteGlad things are going so well at school! Blessings on your September!
ReplyDeleteThank you, friend!
