Happy Friday, friends! I'm so glad it's Friday. We have one week of school, and then we have a week off for fall break! I get paid for this, and I am ridiculously excited about the time off and my big trip that's right around the corner. I plan on spending some time next week getting ready for that and getting nailed down with what I want to take with me. I'm going to try to not overpack since we're all doing carry on. But on with the favorites from this week!
First off, it's my favorite that it's October. I mostly love this month! There are some bad memories associated with it (and some good), and I'm depending on my people to help get me through. Tomorrow would have been my 29th wedding anniversary. And here I am dating again in my late 40's. Life is such a strange turn of events! I loved this image that I found Wednesday on Instagram; do you follow Katie Daisy? I love her work!
Lists like this are my favorite! I want to watch several of these.
I wore some favorite outfits this week! Do you have a favorite? I love this cayenne colored sweater right above, along with my nails, watch, and jeans. I'm over here living my best fall life in spite of the ninety degree weather.
Please forgive the word that seeing this will put into your brain, but this is my favorite mug now. After some very tumultuous days over the last few weeks, when I saw this on a shirt and showed Marilyn, we laughed until we almost cried. She knew I wouldn't want that on a shirt, but when she found this mug, she bought it for me last week! And you are right, that is not coffee inside. 🤣
Fires in my fire pit are my favorite! Look at this amazing fire I made last Saturday night. I never talked about this night, but it was not a great night. I'd originally had a date with Chris planned, but men are stupid and I actually sent him home that night before we even ate dinner. I immediately reached out to Marilyn and Kendra, and they showed up half an hour later with wine, queso and chips, and six pints of ice cream. I feel like I lived out an episode of Sweet Magnolias that night; this is what true friends are, and while Mare left earlier, Kendra didn't leave until almost one a.m. Jonah had come home with some friends, and we just kept sitting out there with them.
This is my new favorite soap! The scent is amazing, but the name of it made me laugh out loud.
Getting pictures of my best friend's baby is always my favorite! Look at sweet baby Levi.
This is one of the sensory rooms at our school, and while it's not my favorite place to be, I love getting to know the students that need to use this space.
Talking to my greats will always be my favorite! I Facetimed these little angels on Tuesday night, and it was the highlight of my week.
This might be my favorite thing that I saw online all week!
Maybe because of the upcoming date of what would have been my 29th anniversary, I decided to post a picture/video on TikTok of this week that has gotten a lot of views. Here's what I wrote as the caption of this picture that I titled, Who I am:
I was a daughter at home for 19 years, for the next 28 years I raised four sons and did the wife thing. Today I'm fully me for maybe the first time in my life, and I'm a single woman. I'm dating and enjoying my life; I love spending time with my grown sons, and I work full time at a job that I dearly love. I have to wonder: what if this next phase of life is the most beautiful and wonderful thing that turns out so much better than I could have dreamed? I'm hopeful.
I anticipate reflecting a lot this weekend...and spending time with people who will keep me busy and preoccupied.
What was a favorite of yours from the week? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!
Jenn ❤️

Hope it's a fabulous weekend! Ok love the cayenne top especially with the blue nails- perfect fall combo!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope the same for you, my friend. Isn't that cayenne color amazing? I bought that last year and then never wore it after I brought it home. I forgot about until I found it again this week! I love when this happens, but I love that it's such a perfect fall color. Happy Friday, friend! xoxo
DeleteYour week sounds really good and how wonderful to look forward to a week of paid vacation and a trip to boot! I don´t get paid time off which I knew when I signed up for subbing; it would really be nice though and I can see how you´d love that time away knowing you´re getting paid :). I took a screen shot of that life partner quote and will send it to my kids when they are awake. It´s so true. I´m sure this weekend will be hard for you in some ways but like you said, you´re living your best life right, figuring things out and loving all the blessings that God has given you. I will be thinking of you and hoping your weekend is a good one!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good one after a rocky finish to the weekend with men being stupid and my baby dog Crash dying. I'm thankful for this, that it could be turned around, but work is what helped so much. I love my people there so very much! I wouldn't have dreamt of not going in that Monday, because I needed to be with people. Isn't that a great life quote? Marilyn sent me that. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for my weekend, friend. I think I'm in a good place, but one never knows until the date hits. I hope you have a great weekend yourself!
DeleteThere's a lot here to talk about but I love your final quote that you wrote. I hope you are learning what you like and what you want right now and let tomorrow be a day of celebration of YOU! Be a little selfish! I returned the Mel Robbins book yesterday. There is a section I ike for you called "Choosing the love you deserve" - you are already doing much of it if not all but I think it would be good affirmation and for anyone dating in their 40s and 50s.
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend. I'm definitely learning some things about myself. A lot of things have surprised me! I don't really know what I'm going to do yet tomorrow...I have a couple of options of plans that are both tentative, though. I may ditch them both and do something different. I haven't made it through the book yet, but I'll look forward to reading that! You know me and my issues with reading right now. Ugh!
DeleteSo glad you had so many favs this week ! I have to say that is one amazing sensory room and says a lot about your school! Still 90 here in Texas too….
ReplyDeleteThank you, friend! It's pretty amazing; we have two of them.
DeleteMore about the connection you have with the kiddos that use the sensory room, a degree to become an occupational therapy (COTA) or physical therapy assistant (PTA) is often two years (speech therapy assistant -SLP/A- is a four year degree). You never know what the next chapter holds!
ReplyDeleteYou never know!
DeleteI love the caption you wrote for your picture. It is interesting to look back and see the phases that our lives are made up of. For me - 18 years at home, 14 years single in college and teaching, 20 years of marriage and parenting 2 kids, and now empty nesting. I love Katie Daisy - I just bought a planner for next year. Hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is very interesting looking back. I don't regret anything, but I'm more hopeful than ever for the future. It's looking pretty bright, and it's something I'm excited about. I didn't know she had planners! I love all of her artwork. I buy her calendars every year.
DeleteGood luck with the packing for your trip!
ReplyDeleteSending love and hugs. I hope tomorrow is OK for you.
That is a great list of movies! I think I might have to watch some of them in the next month or so, before I start on the Christmas one's.
hahaha! I love the mug!
I am so glad you have Marilyn & Kendra to be there for you when men are being a little silly.
Aww! What an adorable little one and yay for the Christmas music!
Thank you! I appreciate that greatly, my friend. Isn't that mug great?! I laughed so hard when she brought it to me last week.
DeleteI hope that's not the same Katie Daisy who got in legal trouble a while back, I heard she got busted for lurking around high schools while on the prowl for a new toy boy.
ReplyDeleteIf that was the same one, I'd be shocked. That's terrible!
DeleteOh I bet you are getting so excited for your trip and time off; I mean I know you love your job but a trip always brings so much anticipation. We had a fabulous week but gosh I feel like it took me days to recover from our late night/concert on Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteI am, and you are right, it does do that. I feel like that too...it takes me days to recover from things like that. I hope you're enjoying your weekend, my friend!
