Happy Wednesday, friends! I'm here with Joyce again today for the weekly hodgepodge...this is a post that I dearly love; thank you, Joyce, for your inspiring and thought provoking questions each and every week! I'll jump right in.
1. Let's do our gratitude question first this week...what's the best thing about your home, and have you taken time to enjoy it lately? It's funny to me, that this is a question. I stopped to take a picture of my home yesterday morning as I left for work, with the leaf covered lawn and roof, and was feeling extra grateful that I get to be in my home. This time last year, I really expected to be in an apartment. While there's nothing wrong with that (and though I may still end up in one eventually), I really am glad that I get to stay in my home. I'm in the process of making it officially in my name only, and would love it if you'd pray for me in this. I'm a little nervous about how it'll all turn out.
I actually wrote something about this yesterday while I was at work, but look for it next Tuesday when I share another inspired writing blog post. The thing I most love about my home are the people who come into it to visit; this would be my sons, my other family members, my friends, and the wonderful man I'm seeing. I love the feeling that I get when I come home, the smells, the sounds, the sights, and everything that makes this place mine. Like I said, I am beyond grateful to be right here, today. God has been so good to me, friends, and His faithfulness will always blow me away.
2. Do you like squash? Of the varieties listed, which one's your favorite and how do you like it prepared? Is squash of some sort on your Thanksgiving menu? I love squash! My mom makes the best squash casserole for the holidays that has cheese and crumbled Ritz crackers on top. Of the ones listed, I am unsure as to which one I like the most.
acorn, butternut, delicata, spaghetti, zucchini, crook net, patty pan
3. When is the last time you were squashed in somewhere, or felt squashed? The last time I felt squashed was when I went to The Orpheum with Chris. The seating is tight! I didn't mind it, though, I just pressed right into Chris and he kept his arm around me all night.
4. Have you ever played squash? What about other "racquet sports" such as racquet ball, tennis, pickle ball, badminton, table tennis? Are these sports something you enjoy? I've never played squash, but I've played racquet ball, tennis, badminton, and table tennis. I enjoy table tennis the most, probably.
5. What's something in today's society or culture that feels like a racket to you? If you don't like that one, tell us about a place you've been recently where there was a lot of racket. Everyday when I'm at work and the second graders come into room 304, it feels like a racket. 🤣 There are so many of them, and they are all big talkers! I literally feel like my head is spinning each and every time they leave. I adore them all, don't get me wrong; they're just a whole lot. Karen and I make googly eyes at each other for the whole 45 minutes that they're there.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Do you remember the old song Traveling Soldier by The Chicks (formerly known as The Dixie Chicks) before they became controversial and ended their career? That's neither here nor there, but they put this song out back in the late 90's or early 2000's; there's a new version out by Cody Johnson that I love! Here's the video:
I can't wait to read your answers to these prompts! Thanks for being here to read mine today, friends. Love to all!
Jenn

I loved that song by the Dixie Chicks! They had so many good ones. I didn´t know that someone had done a remake of it but it makes sense. I´ll listen to it when the house isn´t so quiet :). I´ll bet those students do make a racket!! I listed a person rather than a ¨thing¨ as the favorite thing about my house. It was the first thought that I had so I went with it. I love how you are in your home right now! I hope that you stay there until God is ready for you to live elsewhere :). Have a great day, friend!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great song! I actually started listening to them again in the last year and a half. I still love their music, and the lead singer also went through a divorce. Something about her music resonates with me now. I used to also think that about the same person in my home, but here I am! Now it's the people and all the little things I love about my home. Thank you for that!
DeleteI hope all goes well getting the house switched over to just your name! I like just about every kind of squash I've ever tried and would have a hard time picking a favorite.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think yellow is my favorite, honestly. I'm not super fancy when it comes to the veggies. Ha! V
DeleteThe People - sweetest answer! I am so glad you are there, too.
ReplyDeleteI used to love The Chicks. Great song! I had never heard of Cody Johnson but I like his voice. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! It's true. I still like their music; the lead singer went through a divorce and basically wrote her feelings in songs...there are some good newer ones that I like. I love Cody Johnson! My son Graham introduced me to his music. You should listen to some of his other stuff, it's all great!
DeleteCracked up about your answer to "the racket"- best kind of racket I am sure! They have so much energy at that age- ha!!
ReplyDeleteIt's the best kind of racket, but man they're so much! I can barely think. 🤣 You are so right!
DeleteI just heard the Cody Johnson version for the first time the other day playing in a restaurant. I like it too. I loved the Dixie Chicks version because her voice is so soulful. It's truly one of the saddest songs ever. I hope all goes smoothly with the title transfer. I agree home is all about the people in it! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI love The Chicks version too for that reason, and I still listen to their music. It really is a sad song! Thank you!
DeleteGood luck! I hope you can sort your house out being in your name only without too much difficulty and have many more years of happiness in your home.
ReplyDeleteAww! That is so cute being squashed at the theatre.
hehehe! Little kids are a lot. My head always ends up spinning when I spend time with my 5 year old nephew! He can talk. lol
That is a great song!
Thank you! I totally get the 5 year old nephew thing. I am around that all day long!
DeleteWill definitely pray for you during the process of getting the house in your name. It is so apparent through your blogging that you cherish home and relationships. Enjoy those busy kiddos at school too—they’re blessed to have you !
ReplyDeleteThank you for that!
DeleteSo glad all has gone so well for you! So much you have to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend!
DeleteThat will be a big step (huge) to have your house in your own name. Praying that all works out. And how wonderful that you love being there!!
ReplyDeleteIt really will be a huge deal. Thank you for the prayers!
DeleteWouldn't it be fun if you had answered these questions 5 years ago and then came around today and compare them? I bet we would be astounded at how much we stay the same (with likes/dislikes) and how much changes about our outside circumstances. I don't know why I thought about that while reading your answers but here I am.
ReplyDeleteHope that you can get your house in your name - that would be a big deal!!
Yes! I think this all the time and frequently go back and read old blog posts to compare then vs. now. It's astonishing! Thank you for that, friend!
