Hello, Monday: the Snowed in Version (January 26,2026)

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a great weekend! I can't wait to hear from you at the end of today's post. I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's blog post. I'll jump right in!

First off, I wrote a bonus blog post on Saturday. Here's a link if you'd like to check it out! And because I'm iced/snowed in, I wrote another post for Sunday. Here's that link for your reading pleasure. Truthfully, I don't have a lot to add, but here's how the weekend started before the weather hit.

The kiddos were crazy on Friday, y'all. I don't blame them, honestly, but I was so ready for that day to be over.

It was "snowman" day at school, so this was as close as I could get to that. I wanted to be cozy, so I word this sweatshirt because it's one of the warmest/thickest that I own.

It was FREEZING outside that morning! I literally almost froze half to death while getting students out of the car. I had on my long, thick puffer coat that is giant, this warm scarf you see pictured above (a gift from my sister Trish), thick gloves, and I had the hood pulled up on my coat. Even with gloves and with my hands in my pockets, it took twenty minutes for my fingers to stop tingling once I got back inside. I wore this scarf all morning, because I was still so cold.

With the day being so crazy, my friends and I (we call ourselves the Lunch Bunch) ordered lunch from McAlister's. I ordered a baked potato with bacon.

It hit the spot! I ate this entire thing. We all survived the day and were thrilled when 3:50 got there; that's when we start dismissal.

I had told Chris he could come stay with me for the weekend, because I knew that I was far less likely to lose power here than he is where he lives. I told him to bring his dogs, and that I'd figured out a plan for them to all sleep separately. Knowing that he would be driving here after he got home from work, he took his time getting to me. Kendra was eating out with her friend Jess, so she invited me to tag along. We went to a place here in town called Tony's Trophy Room.

Chris got to my house around ten, but he only stayed an hour before he realized his dogs weren't going to work being with Jonah's dogs (his older two dogs, not the puppy). I legit cried when he left, because I hated the thought of him going home and losing power, but I get why he left and even appreciate that he didn't want to risk Jonah's dogs safety. You can read what I did on Saturday in yesterday's blog post that I linked above. Chris ended up going to stay with his friend since he lost power and didn't want to freeze half to death with his dogs. I'm glad they're all warm and safe at his friend's house.

We have at least eighteen inches of nothing but ice; this last picture above is the barn that was on Chris' property that was about to collapse. It collapsed under the weight of all the ice. Yikes! I'm so glad he went to stay with his friend.

What did you do that you loved this weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

Jenn

  1. We had a date night Saturday night and then spent all day Sunday inside watching the snow pile up (we lost power for a little while but only for like an hour or so-- I was rather impressed they got our power back up so soon!). We're supposed to get even more snow today but it looks like the ice will miss us entirely. Snow is so much easier to deal with!

    1. Fun! I'm glad your power came back on only after being off for such a short time. I would much rather have snow than ice! Most of what I have is nothing but ice. I'm not going anywhere this week! 🤪

  2. Oh my gosh! That barn! That is crazy! I literally hate ice. I wonder if you will be out of school all week. You will be going crazy! I don't think I will attempt to drive today and maybe not tomorrow either. We have 10 inches of all snow on the ground. We got some sleet/wet snow but I don't think it was ice.

    1. Isn't that crazy? He's glad it's down, because he was terrified that it would collapse on one of his dogs. The one dog loved to run in there and hang out; at least now it's down and that will be one less thing for him to worry about. I will be going CRAZY, friend. Like, cuckoo for cocoa puffs crazy. I for sure will not be going anywhere this week, but one thing I am going to do is ride with Jonah on his four wheeler today. I made him promise not to give me a heart attack!

  3. The snowman day at school sounds fun and what a fab sweater! I feel cold just thinking about how cold it is with you.
Aww! That is a shame that things didn't work out with Chris staying over. That is good that he could be warm and safe at his friends house though. Eek to that barn collapsing.

    1. Isn't that fun?! Thanks, friend. You and me both! It is so cold; I've never been so thankful to have a wood burning fireplace. I know, I was so sad, but I believe things work out for a reason. I'm just glad he's safe and warm with his baby dogs, even if it's not with me! I hope you have a great day!

  4. That's too bad that the dogs couldn't get along/work out. Our older dog Albie has mellowed out a lot over the years, but I still wouldn't 100% trust him with smaller dogs etc. Stay warm!

    1. I know! It's terrible. I get that about Albie; my old dog Crash was like that. He would snip at the dogs that were younger than him that would get too close.

  5. Sorry to hear that the weekend plans did not work out, but that says a lot about Chris to put the dogs’ welfare first. That baked potato looks delicious! Here is to, hopefully, melting ice this week !

    1. Thanks for that! I do believe that everything works out in certain ways for a reason, though. I've said it so much, but he is an amazing man. I hope it melts this week!

  6. Hello, my friend! I am sorry the dogs didn't work out. We have issues with our dogs and Madison's and her dog and Peyton's dogs and our dogs and Peyton's dogs and...well you get the idea!!! The baked potato looks divine! And now I am craving one! And I am sorry I didn't respond to you about my one post, but if you still want to do one, I'd love to read it! Stay warm!

    1. Hello to you! Thank you for that. I'm sorry for it too, but I'm glad his friend Pete reached out to him about them staying there. I just need them all to be safe and warm. I get the idea!

  7. So sorry it didn't work out for Chris to stay with you, but I'm glad everyone stayed safe! I love days when we order food to school- one of life's simple joys haha!

    1. Thank you, friend! As long as him and the pups are safe and warm, I'm good with how it all worked out. I love days like that, too!

  8. Did you say 18" of ice? That's crazy! We got about a foot of snow with an icy crust - but all the streets are already cleared.

    1. I think that's what was predicted, but I had about ten inches of ice here at my house. It's terrible!

  9. Dogs! We love them but also they rule the day : ) Sorry it didn't work out. Our ice mostly melted today but everything is wet and will refreeze tonite so we'll see how tomorrow goes. Our driveway was a skating rink so hoping tomorrow it stays clear and I can get out. Stay safe! Sounds like you'll be homebound for a bit.

    1. Dogs! Gotta love them, right? Thank you for that! I am just glad they're safe and warm now at his friend Pete's house. The bonus is I can see him on some nights since that isn't too far from me! I'll definitely be home for a bit. I'm getting out today, though!

  10. Oh, my gosh! Give me 18 inches of snow over 1.8 inches of ice any day! I guess I don't know where you live. You must be south of me (I'm near Indianapolis) because all the weather forecasts were for ice in KY and TN. We won't be out of the teens all week with some nights below zero. But, I love snow; the pantry is stocked; so we're staying inside and doing nothing.

    1. I know! It's terrible. I'm near Memphis, Tennessee. We're just not equipped for this kind of weather! I know people make fun of us, but it's because we don't have enough snow plows to make roads drivable. I'm glad you're warm and cozy at home!

  11. That’s sad that Chris wasn’t able to stay, but good to hear he was safe and warm at his friend’s house. The baked potato looks so delicious, yum I’m craving one now.
