a cozy Saturday

Happy Saturday, friends, and welcome to a bonus blog post this week! I anticipate a lot of extra blog posts over the course of the next few days/week. I anticipate being bored at home, and when I'm bored, I like to do something constructive. Insert me writing here a lot here. Today I thought I'd share how I like to be cozy when I'm stuck at home from weather or sickness, and then I'm going to ask you a question at the end, so stay tuned.

This is what I woke up to this morning! As I write this post, it's sleeting. For the next twenty four hours, it's supposed to be a combination of a wintry mix and snow. It's not getting above freezing until after next Friday. Yikes! I might be stuck here all week, friends. I was cold when I woke up; I made coffee, let the dogs out and fed them, then came inside to fix my coffee how I like it, then came into the living room to sit down to watch a movie. Jonah made a fire last night at nine o'clock; when I sat down this morning at 6:30, I saw a spark that was glowing. I added a new log to it, and this is my current view.

It's a great fire, right? This is the first thing I love to do while I'm stuck at home.

I also have a thing for having candles lit when I'm at home for long periods of time, so I lit the candle on my coffee table and sat down to watch a new show on Netflix.

That segues perfectly into my next thing: I love to watch movies or binge watch an entire season of a show (or even a whole show). I went to dinner with a couple of friends last night before the Snowpocalypse started, and one of them mention the show His & Hers on Netflix. Have you watched it yet? I started it this morning. It's a limited series, so there's just one season with seven or eight episodes.

Another thing I love to do is to drink something warm.

I usually only drink one cup of coffee in the mornings, but I'll probably drink a second one today. This is my favorite mug to drink it in; it's the Swig brand, and I even use the lid when it's cold outside so it'll stay warm.

I like to read when I'm stuck at home, and I hope to read a lot today. I'm working on a Mel Robbins book, but I have lots of things to read on my Kindle.

I'll talk on the phone a lot; it's not that it's something I love to do, but I do it a lot. I'll talk to Chris, Mom, Marilyn, and my sisters. I'm sure I'll call my sons and check on them at some point as well.

I like to eat soup; it's extra cozy when it's cold outside! I'll have taco soup for dinner.

I'll take a shower at some point and put on leggings with my hoodie instead of the fleece pajama pants I'm in at the moment. I'll probably wash my hair at the same time, since I'm due for that.

I'll keep this lovely fire going all day; Jonah will probably help me with this at some point while he's here. I know he will be in and out; something I love about him is that because he has a big truck and is confident about driving in the snow/ice, he loves to ride around to see if people need help. If he sees someone stuck, he will offer to help get them out. He is prepared for this in his truck; he has tow straps, winch cables (I think I'm saying that right?), and other things to be prepared for in case he gets stranded.

Here's my question to you: what do you do to stay cozy when you're stuck at home? What's the weather like for you today? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

Jenn
