Happy Tuesday, friends! Since we're all iced/snowed in around here, I thought I'd talk about it again today, and why I love it so much...well, that's not quite true. I love to look at it for a few days, and then I'm ready for summer. Anyway, here goes.
...............................................................................................
There's a special kind of beauty in snow when you're at home. If quiets the whole world, pressing pause on everything loud and hurried outside your windows. The flakes drifted down like little blessings, quiet and unhurried, stitching a whole quilt over rooftops and branches. From inside, wrapped in warmth and cozied up by a fire, you can watch the whole scene unfold as if the earth is exhaling and settling into stillness.
There's a magic in how snow transforms the familiar~streetlights glowing like halos, trees wearing delicate lace, the yard turning into a clean, untouched canvas. Even the air feels different, hushed and holy, like the world is whispering instead of speaking.
And somehow, being home makes that beauty feel even sweeter. The contrast of cold outside and warmth inside reminds you of everything good~soft blankets, the scent of something brewing in the kitchen, the quiet comfort of being exactly where you belong. Snow doesn't just fall; it invites you to slow down, breathe deeper, and notice the peace you usually walk right past.
On days like this, you don't need anything extraordinary. Just a window, a warm room, and the gentle reminder that beauty can appear out of nowhere~falling from the sky, covering everything in grace.
...............................................................................................
How do you feel about snow/ice? What about when you're forced to stay home? I love it for a day or two, but I start going stir crazy after too long. I do think seeing people helps! I've talked on the phone a lot, Marilyn is probably coming over today, and Jonah's friends have been in and out. I played cards yesterday! That was fun, and I'll probably do that today once Marilyn arrives. We'll eat together, we'll listen to music, and we'll laugh as we get all caught up once again. I'd love to hear you, so chime in! Thanks for reading today, friends. Love to all!
Jenn

Beautiful blog
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love that drawing!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's actually an AI generated image. My friend Lindsay at work made us coloring books to keep us occupied while we're stuck at home. I'll show it to you later!
DeleteI'd love snow a whole lot more if it didn't stick around nearly as long as it does. It looks so pretty while it's falling and for maybe that first 24 hours or so after falling but then it's just an icy slushy mess that life really difficult for a few weeks... or months! I'm thinking the 16+ inches we got will be sticking around for quite some time this go round.
ReplyDeleteYes! I agree. I'm afraid ours is here for a good long while. Ice is hard to melt when it won't get above freezing!
DeleteGrowing up in MN, I am very content during winter weather in the south ……as long as we have power. Many of us in TX have PTSD from 2021 when the electrical grid failed. It is very impressive that you had power with all the ice in Tennessee. There is definitely beauty in the grass covered with snow (or in our case sleet). Stay warm and safe !
ReplyDeleteI bet you are! I remember that; a lot of bloggers I love talked about that. I'm impressed by our power company, and so grateful for them! Thanks, friend. I hope the same for you!
DeleteI have been enjoying the quiet and the beauty of this weather. From inside the house of course- though I have been out to help with shoveling. We were spared ice and we have power so I can't complain too much. Even without a furnace working, space heaters and the fireplace are keeping the house warm. Enjoyed your winter wonderland words- very lyrical and pretty :).
ReplyDeleteYes! I totally get that. And the same is true for me; most of my enjoyment has come from inside of my home. I'm so glad you're staying warm in spite of your furnace not working! What a time for it to go out, right? Thank you for that, sweet friend!
DeleteI really enjoyed reading this. Snow feels very different to me when I can stay home and look at it from inside... then it’s beautiful instead of demanding. But I recognize what you say about going a little stir-crazy after a while. I need people too. Hearing that you’ll play cards, eat together, and just laugh sounds like the perfect counterbalance. That kind of togetherness makes being snowed in feel less small and more human. Thanks for sharing this today — it was lovely to read.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed this! Thank you for taking the time to comment today. I love what you said about it feeling different when you can stay at home versus when you have to go out. Balance is great for everything in life, right? I appreciate your kind words!
DeleteI love looking at snow from a cozy indoor setting, but would never want to deal with it on a regular basis! I enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteYes! The same is true for me. Thank you for that, sweet friend!
DeleteLove your writing!! I enjoyed being "stuck" in the house for a couple of days, but I'm glad to be out and about again. We never ended getting bad ice or snow, so I am thankful for that for sure!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maddie! I know what you mean; I'm on day five of being "stuck" here, but I'm getting out. I may attempt to drive somewhere today to meet my friend for lunch. I'm glad things are normal for you there!
