Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a great weekend! I can't wait to hear from you at the end of today's post. I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's blog post. I'll jump right in!
Most of you know that I call Marilyn before work every morning; I always pull over at my church to do this, and I park at the back of the lot. These are the beautiful trees that I saw when I pulled in on Friday! I love tulip trees, and these are in full bloom. My routine is that I sit here until eight o'clock and talk to Marilyn; and then I call Mom as I drive to work and wait to go inside until 8:20.
Friday was so much fun with kindergarten! My co-worker Carla made this long sidewalk game out of chalk, so we had fun going outside with them that day since the weather was so nice.
After work, I met some co-workers for a drink and appetizers, because Chris was coming to me a little later in the night. It was about 7:30 when Chris came over; we decided on a little place in town that has really good sushi. We ordered food to share, something we always do: a spicy shrimp roll, lo mein, and dumplings. This was so good! After dinner we drove over to the town square so that I could introduce Chris to this little place called Mensi's. They have all kinds of food (for cheap!) and the best soft serve ice cream. We got our ice cream and walked over to the square and sat on this giant swing. It was a fun night!
This was the only thing on my agenda Saturday! I haven't had a pedicure since before Christmas, so this was way overdue. I love getting to pamper myself a little in this way; do you ever do things to take care of yourself? It was so rainy here all of Saturday; because of that I didn't do much. Chris was here, so we watched TV for most of the afternoon; by "watch TV", I mean that we both napped for the majority of the afternoon. 🤣
That night for dinner, we went to Memphis Pizza Cafe, then I took my friend Kendra some dinner. She's recovering from surgery, so we sat and visited with her and her man for a while before heading back to my house to finish Ted Lasso. I actually had tickets to go see a Broadway play, but I wasn't crazy about the idea of going with the rain and because of the long Sunday I had; also, there was the time change that had to be factored in. That being said, I gave my tickets to Drew and his girlfriend Mallory; they loved the show! Sunday morning I was at church bright and early! We went to lunch with Mom and Bill afterward, then we came back to my house before saying our goodbyes and having to leave for an extra choir rehearsal.
I shared this post on socials in honor of National Women's Day; these are the most amazing and strong women I know. I'm so proud to call them Mom and sisters!

You weekend sounds nice! You got to spend time with your favorite people doing acts of service, volunteering in your role at church, taking care of yourself and eating some good food. I hope you feel well rested for the week ahead of you. How nice to have a somewhat shortened week at school!
ReplyDeleteIt was great, and very restful. I was so tired by Friday! I'm excited for a short and very busy week. I anticipate the days flying by. Happy Monday!
DeleteI missed the memo that it was pedicure weekend this weekend (you and Amy both got one!).. but it's still much too cold and snowy here for that yet. Hopefully soon though! It sounds like you had a real lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteI saw that on Amy's blog and laughed! I haven't had one since before Christmas, and I like to go year round. I'm sure you'll get to enjoy one soon! Thanks, friend, I hope yours was great as well!
DeleteIt was pedicure weekend! It's hard to go when it's raining! I had been waiting for a dry day!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you made the right choice to give the tickets away. You have to listen to your body.
I took off Friday, March 13, 2020 because I was just wrecked. The last day I got to teach my own twins became Thursday, March 12 because of the pandemic. Then I felt guilty that I had needed that Friday off. They were in my two different AP Spanish classes. Wahhhhh...I didn't really believe we would be out for what I thought was only 3 weeks.
Maybe this Friday is a good day for you to take off. What I quickly learned as a teacher is when you had a planned day off you also had the gift of the night before off! Ha!
It was! I laughed when I saw you got one, too. I've been wanting one for a while and hadn't been in ages, so it was time! I agree about listening to your body; I knew I'd be on the struggle bus all of Sunday, had we gone. I'm glad I gave Drew the tickets, because they loved the show! It was a great decision. Wow...I remember other people saying that about 2020. If only you had known, right? It's interesting about that date in your life. It might be! I'm going to have to wait and see closer to time as the week goes on, but I should know by Wednesday. I love that unplanned night before, too! I love not having to wake with an alarm.
DeleteWhat a chill and awesome weekend. Looks like you are getting some beautiful spring blooms and weather- can't wait to experience that here!
ReplyDeleteI'm overdue for a pedicure too and need to get one on the calendar. It's been a busy month so not sure when that will happen. I did book a facial for this week, also overdue. Have a nice week and enjoy your half day or hopefully full day off!
ReplyDeleteSo refreshing to have a pedicure just in time for spring break! Glad you and Chris had a good long weekend together and I have a feeling this week will go by fast. I'm glad you have a pretty view when we talk :). Happy Monday!
