Happy Good Friday, friends! I'll never forget my son Noah asking me why this day was considered "good" when he was little, when it was the day that Jesus was crucified a few thousand years ago. I remember kind of being flabbergasted by his question; all I knew to say was that it was good for us now, because Jesus didn't stay dead. And this would still be my answer today! I'm so thankful for Jesus; He offers the free gift of salvation that is ours for the taking when we believe in Him. He offers hope to a lost and dying world; He extends His love, grace, and mercy to us everyday that we're alive. While I was praying one day this week, I told Him that I couldn't imagine a life without Him by my side. I certainly don't get this Christian walk perfectly right, but each day I spend time with Him and He sanctifies me along the way. And like a worship song that I love says, all my life He has been faithful.
I love this little blog world and all the fun, frivolous things we talk about, but I would be remiss if I didn't say one thing today: if you don't know Jesus in this way and are interested in learning more, please reach out to me. My email address is allboys@gmail.com; I would love to talk to you more about this! If you need a recommendation on where to begin reading in the Bible, I can help you with that, too. I can share what I do to remain close to the Lord and we can stay in touch if you ever want to talk.
I'm always grateful to be able to talk about this here, and for the weekend and what it represents.
On a much, much lighter note, here are some favorites from the week.
Marilyn is and forever will be a favorite part of my week. I was so glad we had an afternoon and night to catch up this week!
These two sunsets and a sunrise were a favorite from the week. The sky has been spectacular lately!
New nails will always be a favorite! This is a fun color that matches my toes.
This was a favorite sight Wednesday night! We had an extended choir rehearsal this week, due to it being Good Friday and Easter Sunday. I love seeing a full orchestra pit and choir loft!
Getting dressed is my favorite! I had an outfit change on Tuesday, because...
...my friend and co-worker Lindsey invited me to the University of Memphis softball game after work! It was so much fun, and the weather was perfect.
My new watchband is my favorite! Here's a link in case anyone is interested.

Happy birthday to Drew! I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family and Happy Easter! P.S. I love your hair :) It's looking amazing lately :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your nail color.... and all the sandal photos. I got to break out my flip flops one afternoon this week and it was wonderful. Now I'm just waiting for another warm day so I can wear them again. Happy birthday to Drew!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your Sweet Boy! Love all of the pics :) That choir rehearsal sounds magical- must be so powerful to sing in an environment like that
ReplyDeleteIt's been a sad Easter season, for the first time Israeli police, IDF refused to let the Cardinal of Jerusalem and accompanying priests into the church of the Holy Sepulchre. First the IDF bombs ancient churches in Palestine, now this?!
ReplyDeleteTo Anonymous' point- humans have a way of making a mess of things. And by "mess" I mean many Christians are being persecuted around the world- in Nigeria for instance and in every Communist country where Christianity is prohibited. Jesus said in the Bible that in this world there WILL be trouble. Indeed all of his disciples died martyrs deaths for their refusal to disavow Jesus and their faith in him. Jesus knows the hearts of the Cardinals and the priests and ultimately that is all that matters. The church they can't go into is a physical place; thankfully, Jesus transcends the physical and hopefully resides in these mens' hearts. They will spend an eternity in heaven if he is their Lord and Savior. Knowing the outcome doesn't ameliorate the suffering on Earth but it does place it in perspective. I hope that the Cardinal of Jerusalem and the priests experience the peace of Christ in the most important place where they can experience it- in their hearts and souls. I hope that everyone who feels anger towards a geopolitical group or towards members of a political ideology that is different from theirs (I'm preaching to the choir here!) experiences peace and love that transcends ideology this Easter weekend.
ReplyDeleteWell said. While mankind is making big strides forward in areas of science and technology, it seems that morality and values are lagging behind. Hopefully the faithful's prayers for peace this Easter are answered.
DeleteJen- thank you for your evangelicalism on your blog! You never "preach" you just your gift of writing to bring up great points that (hopefully!) point others towards Christ. Happy Birthday to your handsome son! I hope he has a wonderful day. It's my mom's birthday today. She would be in her nineties! It's hard to imagine her an old women since she died in middle age. I take comfort picturing her in heaven singing her favorite hymns! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful words to start your blog! I love your nails and that blue and white dress! I love your doodling. Make one just for Chris! How fun to go to a baseball game! Now it feels like spring!
ReplyDeleteAnd happy bday #26!
DeleteHappy birthday to Drew! One of my greats asked me the same question this week of why is today called Good Friday because of what happened. Enjoy your day off!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your son! I love the bright pink. I had my nails done this week in a brighter pink than I normally wear, but not as bright as yours. I usually keep my nails light but I always do something dark or bright on my toes. Happy Easter to you and your family Jenn. I appreciated your words at the start of this post. Have a joyous Easter.
