Happy Saturday, friends! I hope this finds you well...it seemed like another great day for a bonus blog post. Today's was inspired by Shay Shull; I'm talking about the things I'm making more time for in my life. I hope you enjoy!
Here are the things I'm making more time for:
breakfast dates with Chris
We love getting breakfast together on Saturdays! I remember when this first started; he came over super early one Saturday and while I would have preferred to have lingered over coffee instead of getting dressed for the day, it's become a tradition that I love. I'm sad when we miss it now! Sometimes if one of us are out of town, he'll send me a picture of his plate and the empty seat across from him; it always makes me sad that I'm not there with him.
reading
I am trying to make more time for reading; this means that I am actively putting my phone down. I haven't done as good with this in the last few days as I had been, but I'm still trying.
phone conversations
Ideally, this would be more of an in-person thing, but with my out of town family, it's not possible. I'm trying to be better at calling people that I love.
in-person meet ups with friends
connecting with my sons
I would love for us to meet up on Saturday night at a place I've been wanting them to try. I'd love to treat them to this...but I might have to wait a bit before I can do that. In the meanwhile, I'd love for them all to come here, or maybe we could all meet up at Graham's house.
journaling
I had that thought this week as I was trying to pass the time at work. I love to journal and I need to do it way more often. It's so therapeutic to me! I was cleaning out my work bag this week and came across all of these notebook pages full of things I was grateful or moments I wanted to remember that had happened at work. More of that, please!
reading the Bible
I know this is going to sound strange, but I stopped my Bible reading plan. I caught myself not paying attention, so I decided to leave it and do something new. I wanted to write out Scripture this summer, but I'm already behind...even so, I can still keep going and just start with today. I love to write out Scripture! It helps me to remember it; I love it when it's themed for a certain month. I had started one in June based on friendship; I should start it up again today.
keeping my house vacuumed and dusted
This one isn't that fun, but my house makes me crazy, y'all. Noah's dog sheds horribly, but he's not home that often to vacuum for me. He will, don't get me wrong, but when it's bothering me the most, I just want it done right then. I love a clean and orderly home! I enjoy it more when I don't see dog hair on the floor and dust on the furniture. Did I mention that it drives me bonkers? I need you to understand this about me. Ha! (This is an older picture.)
sitting and connecting with the people I'm with at any given moment-- without any device in my hand
I had this thought when Graham came to visit on Thursday night. I love that he randomly drop by at a moment's notice!
What about you? What are a few things you'd like to make more time for? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!
Jenn

These are great goals! I need to put my phone in another room. I have gotten bad about being on it.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to make plans in the summer sometimes! When I was working, I liked to look through my contacts and make a list of each person I wanted to see over the summer. I should still do that. I also have not published or completed my summer bucket list yet. I have a pool day coming up with a friend that I'm looking forward to.
I need to do at least one social thing a week, I think!
Thanks, friend! I need to do that as well sometimes. Just now I finished eating dinner and cleaning up; I left mine in the living room for a couple of hours while I was doing other things! I'm making that a challenge for myself. I totally get needing to do one social thing a week!
DeleteSomething I'm trying to make more time for is using up the craft items in my house. I have so many opportunities, such as embroidery, paper crafts, sewing, coloring, etc. and it's just a matter of choosing those over playing a game on my iPad or just sitting in a chair watching tv. I'm also amazed at how much I can get done when I stay home and utilize my time here. So many little areas need organizing, but I don't feel like doing them. But when the budget is tight, staying home can bring about lots of time to do all the things that are on the list. I've also made a commitment to read at least 30 minutes every afternoon. I used to read constantly. When I would sit for lunch, it was at the table with a book. Now I have so many shows I love, so it takes the place of a book, which I wish weren't the case.
ReplyDeleteI love that goal! I'm the same way with my phone or device or TV. I often opt for those other things over reading. They're such a distraction!
DeleteI stopped my reading plan for the same reason. It was becoming just kind of a rote routine, and now I am happier with what I am getting out of my quiet time.
ReplyDeleteI think it's good that we recognized that! I love that.
DeleteI've definitely been making lots and lots of time for reading and soaking in the heat/sunshine.
