currently hodgepoding

Happy Wednesday, friends! For the first part of today's blog post, I'll be linking up with Amy and Marsha. For the latter part of the post, I'll be joining Joyce

sparkling: I love sparkling drinks!

I couldn't find any pictures with actual sparklers.

grilling/cooking: I've been eating the chicken that Jonah has been grilling!

He is a master griller! I've also been eating the delicious food that Chris has been cooking. ❤️

heating up:

It's heating up here this week, so I've been in the water a lot lately!

using: I've been using my new clutch that I bought while I was in Louisville; I love it so much!

celebrating: I'm about to be celebrating Chris's birthday! He turns 43 on July 12.

I love him so much; clearly, we never have any fun together, as you can see from these pictures. I can't wait to spoil him a little.

.................................................................................................................................

1. What do you love most about your country? The thing I love the most about our country are the freedoms that we have. I don't ever want to take for granted these things that I often do: speech, religion, etc. Our country is not perfect, but I am so grateful to live here.

2. What's your favorite patriotic song? I have always loved My Country 'Tis of Thee.

3. Red, white, or blue? Stars or stripes? Something you own besides a U.S. flag with some combination of these colors or decorations as part of its design? I don't love to wear the three colors together, but I love all of these colors separately and wear them pretty regularly! I would choose stripes over stars, and I have a new dress with them that I've only worn once. The only thing I own with this design is a flag.

4. What's one thing you want more of this summer: fun, rest, adventure, connection, quiet, or confidence? Elaborate. Without a doubt, the one thing I want more of is connection. I love people and I love being with all of mine!

5. What was your ultimate go-to summer activity when you were a kid? Do you still do any version of that today? If you answered yes, does participating in this activity as an adult make you feel like a kid? My favorite activity in the summer as a young girl was sleeping over with friends or having them sleepover at my house. I still do this today, with friends when I trave l with them, and every single time, I feel like I'm young again. It's the best!

6. Insert your own random thought here. See pictures below.

I've spent some time drawing this week; my little student can't go to recess when it's this hot, so we sit and either read or draw. I love doing this!

I can't wait to read your posts today! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

Jen ❤️🩷

    1. Thank you! I was inspired by another picture at work yesterday; but for me, it's relaxing to draw and doodle. I am still loving my magenta clutch!

  2. Yes to the sparkling drinks and yum to what you have been eating! How wonderful that you have access to a pool. I wish outdoor pools were a thing here. Happy birthday to Chris for July 12th.
Ahh! The sleepovers as a child were always so much fun and I love your drawings!

    1. Yes! I am so grateful to have had access to pools this summer. I didn't realize outdoor pools weren't a thing in the UK; they're not in Iceland, either. I get that, though...it would be hard to keep them up for a short swim period. Thanks, friend! Happy Wednesday!

  3. Your work drawings are so cute! Talk about a childhood activity - there was nothing better than a fresh pack of markers and a sketchpad or notebook. I should do this more, too. Teaching enabled me to do many child-like and creative things since I was always drawing on a handout or on the board. Awwww - miss the good of teaching!
I hope you spoil Chris on his birthday! Have you asked him what restaurant or what food he wants to have yet? If Tom has to work, I like to leave something in his car like a donut with a card or note.

    1. Thank you! I agree about the simplicity of drawing with some new crayons/pencils/markers. I love doing it still today, and my little M is always amazed by what I come up with. Ha! I can't wait to spoil him on his birthday! It's not a big deal to him, but I'm going to make it one here. It falls on Sunday, so I know we'll go to church and have lunch...maybe I can make him something special that afternoon. These are great ideas! Thank you for always inspiring me in life...I'm being totally serious. You're such a great friend!

  5. That's so fun that you can draw during recess! We used to sing My Country Tis of Thee everyday in elementary school...what a fun memory.

    1. Aw! I am sure you regret that from time to time. Aren't sleepovers as adults the best?!

  8. Your drawing pictures remind me of one of my favorite childhood activities which was coloring on the front porch. We'd take our crayons and coloring books out there and sit for hours. I'm a fan of sparkling drinks too : ) Have a great 4th!
