Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday, friends! Rebecca Jo, Leslie and I are back with another Thankful Thursday linkup. I hope you join us!

I don't talk about him enough on here, but I am so thankful for my husband (pictured on the left below).

He is legitimately the hardest working man I know. The days when he actually gets to come home from work and sit and enjoy a tv show or fourteen are few and far between. Most nights he is busy with work or helping one of our sons. Tuesday night he didn't get home until after ten o'clock, because he was helping Jonah with his truck at the shop. He has something medical going on that needs to be handled, but he doesn't have the time to stop and schedule a surgery! It's nothing life threatening, but he's in pain a lot of the time. He is the greatest husband I could ever have asked for, and he's an incredible dad to our sons. He's just an all around good guy, and he has never met a stranger.

I am thankful for routines! I've said this several times on here lately, but everything is new right now and I am so glad to have settled into a pretty solid routine. I love routine and structure! I have my day broken up into segments of time that I use to accomplish things around here. I'm a list maker and I live by what I plan out each day. That being said, I can also be too much that way and I have to pray through letting some of my expectations go. Things don't always work out the way I hope and I need to be okay with it when that happens.

I am thankful for moments in time that bring a smile to my face. Moments like when I see Dad on Fridays, spend time with Mom and Trish on Saturdays, seeing my mom-in-love on Wednesdays at Bible study and for lunch after, laughing over a funny text from my besties, a moment of laughing so hard that I cry...you get the gist. Everything is so heavy right now! I need more moments like this.

I am thankful for the gift of prayer. I reached out on social media this week asking people how I could pray for them, and you'd be amazed at how many people reached out. Why don't I do that more often? I need to remember to do that at least once every couple of weeks. Prayer is the most underused tool that we have in our spiritual tool boxes! We need to pray more boldly and in with great faith that the Lord hears and will answer our prayer...even if it's in a way that is different than how we prayed. If you're one of the ones who reached out, know that I have been praying for you!

I'm thankful for this wonderful little slice of internet that is the blog world. I read some excellent blogs, my friends. They're always my favorite morning routine. I drink the coffee and I read the blogs.

I'm thankful that fall is right around the corner! I love a new week, a new month, a fresh start. The newness reminds me of one of my favorite passages in Scripture:

Great is the faithfulness of God.

  1. Ahhh - hope your hubby can take care of the issue that is giving him pain soon - I'm the same way though - put off taking off work.
I'm very much a routine person too - it kicks my anxiety in gear when I dont have that. Probably why I like my planner so much - gives me some sort or routine even on "off" days

  2. I thanked God this morning in my prayer time for His new mercies each morning. Love that you quoted that here. It's like God is reminding me again to be thankful for His mercy.

Hope you husband can get scheduled soon and all goes well. It's no fun to be in pain.

Thank you for co-hosting Thankful Thursday. I really appreciate it and I'm enjoying starting to get to know you a little bit. Have a great day.

  3. Sometimes I think my husband is the unsung hero of my blog content. He doesn't get a ton of coverage, but he is the anchor for our family!

  4. Rebecca Jo- I hope he does have it looked at soon. He's been dealing with it for a while now, and thankfully it hasn't gotten any worse. It's nothing really dangerous or anything, but I know he'll feel better when he has surgery. I get that totally! I think that's why I look routine as well- it brings calmness to chaos and it makes me feel like I have a handle on things...even when I don't.

  5. Cathy- thank you for always stopping by and encouraging me! I have enjoyed getting to know you as well. Don't you love when God does things like that? That is one way I praise Him every single day, for His mercies that are new every morning.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog!

how to be a woman of God who walks with integrity (according to Psalm 26)

Happy Saturday and bonus blog post day, friends! I was inspired to write this as a result of my quiet time on Friday morning. Psalm 26 was...
