Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday friends! Today I'm talking about things I'm grateful for this week. I'll jump in!

→I'm thankful for the fact that I was able (and kind of excited) to stay at home for two nights in a row this week! This is huge, friends. I've been unable to be at home at night for months on months the last year, and this felt like a major accomplishment! Monday night wasn't quite as enjoyable, since I was kind of in a bad mood, but I persisted and talked on the phone a lot. Tuesday night was so much better! I showered and washed my hair early, then settled in with dinner (I cooked, too!) and a movie on Prime TV. I worked on this week's blog posts, I talked on the phone, and after the movie I listened to a new playlist on Spotify. It was glorious! I was in bed by 9:30 and asleep by 1 a.m. 🤣

→I'm thankful for the fact that I finally finished a book this week! I refuse to give up on reading, because I'm stubborn enough to keep trying. I will not let my new joyful life ruin my lifelong love of books and reading. In order to keep making myself do this, and out of necessity, I ordered myself the newest and latest version of the Kindle! She arrived yesterday and is beautiful with her new hot pink cover and Kindle Unlimited subscription for three months. Now to just get her all set up and ready to go!

→I'm thankful for things to do when I'm not at home! I thoroughly enjoyed last night and having dinner with a sweet friend I don't see often enough. We enjoyed catching up and eating at The Salad Station (her first time), and then driving around later listening to music and continuing with talking.

→I'm thankful for the art of communication. It's definitely something I'm getting used to again, and I've enjoyed some heartfelt conversations with people. I follow all these accounts on socials that give life/dating advice, and I keep seeing these lists of things that are green flags in people. Here are some more of my green flags in relationships (both with friends and in the one I'm seeing):

  • a love for Jesus
  • excellent communication skills and the ability to talk things out without frustration
  • good morning/goodnight texts
  • checking in throughout the day texts
  • thoughtfulness
  • vocal concern (hearing it in their voice and being asked how I am)
  • them wanting to know about my life (my day, my job, my family, my hobbies)
  • late night phone calls
  • seeing how they treat others, particularly someone that can't help them in any way
  • what they do in their spare time
  • facial expressions...do they always look mad or content?
  • driving skills...I refuse to ride in the vehicle with someone who doesn't make me feel safe

→I'm thankful for the gift of prayer and this image that I saw on it yesterday.

What's one thing you're thankful for this week? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

Jenn ❤️

  1. That is true about the prayer part! Sometimes I get concerned that I "say" the right things. But God already knows what's on my heart. He wants me to come to him but not just so that I can relate my thoughts to him. I like your green flag list. Several of those items reminded me of areas that I need to do a better job of- to be the kind of person who exudes "green flag" traits. Have a great day, friend!

    1. I get concerned with those same things sometimes, and even that I follow a certain "formula", but the thing is that God just wants us to come to Him. That means when I can't pray, all I have to say is His name and He immediately knows and intercedes on my behalf. I know you know that, but I love that reminder! I have to remind myself of that continually. I think we all need to be the green flag exuding type of people! I know I can always do a better job of that, and not being so quick to treat particular (AHEM) people with such animosity. I know you know who I'm speaking of...it's not easy! I just keep having to pray and ask forgiveness from the Lord when I let my thoughts fly.

  4. I like your list of green flags. I have slowed down this week in my first full week of summer. I like to only plan one thing I have to do a day - one outing. My friend Victoria plans like 5 things a day - we were just laughing about it on the phone. She is also a teacher. And, when we get together she always has somewhere to be immediately after and often times doesn't have enough time to fully enjoy what she and I are doing. I'm glad we are close enough we can joke about it.
Yay for staying home two nights and for reading. I think for your next one - Unlikely Story by Ali Rosen - or soon after your next one. This was my favorite book of recent months.

    1. Thank you! I think that's wise; I love that you're fully present and see why you would joke with Victoria about having so much going on. I get that, too, though...I know their summers are precious to them! I'm adding that one to my list. Thanks for the rec! I can't wait to set my new Kindle up today!

    1. Right?! I'm proud of myself for this. I'm excited to set it up when I get home later on. My Wi-Fi at church isn't great, so I'll wait until then. Thanks, friend!

  6. Oh it would be very hard to pick just one thing I'm thankful for today! or this week so far! I think I'm most thankful for the ladies that came to my small group Tuesday night. I was so nervous and honestly I still am, but I'm pressing on! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, so I'm thankful! A new kindle is so fun! I'm kind of in a reading slump myself, but only because I do this weird thing. If I have just read a really good book, I psych myself out that the next one won't be as good so I won't read for a while! LOL-I'm nuts! and also yay for sunshine! we've had so much rain, so I'm glad to see some sunshine lately! have a blessed day!

    1. I think those are all such great things to be thankful for! I do that sometimes and psych myself out about my next book; there's also something very real called a book hangover. That's such a great thing!
