weekending

Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Mine flew by! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's blog post.

A lot of my weekend was spent watching this little cutie for my friend, Kat. Isn't he handsome? His name is Pac...as in Tupac, the deceased rap artist. I died laughing when she told me this! I sent this picture to Kat, which I think she appreciated. Kat is a friend from work! It's so strange to think about how these people I'm so close to now are ones I didn't even know this time last year. For that matter, I didn't know Chris yet this time last year! I'll never stop saying how strange life can be, and that I have all these new people in it because of circumstances that have transpired. I'm not complaining, I promise!

The actual day of Friday was pretty low key. I read a book most of the day, in between doing things around my house. Chris took me to dinner at Lost Pizza that night, then we came back here and watched a movie. I can't remember which one, though...

I made it to the Farmer's Market this weekend! Isn't this place adorable? I even ran into an old friend while we were there, so it was great to catch up with her and her daughters, and to get to introduce them to Chris.

I didn't buy anything this go 'round. It's a little too early still to be buying seasonal vegetables. I'd like to go back in a few weeks and buy some tomatoes and enjoy them on white bread with mayonnaise, salt, and pepper. Have you ever eaten a tomato sandwich? It's good with bacon and lettuce too, but it's delicious with just that one ingredient.

On the same property of the farmer's market is this nursery with two gift shops...again, I didn't buy anything, but it's fun to browse. Their plants are spectacular! I only wish I didn't kill them. The other major event of the day was getting locked out of Kat's house. I don't know if the dog somehow locked her back door or if I did it, but we had to call a locksmith. Thankfully, Chris knows people, because of his line of work, and one of his customers came out and only charged a minimal fee. Locksmiths usually charge anywhere from $150-$200, especially on a Saturday! We didn't pay even half that. Kat and I were in constant communication during this time, so I was relieved to let her know when I was inside her house again.

We grabbed some of our favorite ice cream before making our way back to my house to cool off. It warmed up quickly!

We got really ambitious and while we were out that morning, got the ingredients to make our own steamed and pan seared gyoza! We went to an international market to pick up what we needed; from start to finish, this took one hour. I love that Chris loves to cook! It's fun to do that together. I don't know that we'll do this very often, but it was fun to do and it was delicious!

This means that we had breakfast by nine, and dinner by four. A couple of hours later, he took me to get a soft serve margarita, and we had chips and dips at the bar. It was so good! The rest of the weekend was low key. We went out for lunch on Sunday, then grocery shopped together. I got some things for this week, one of which was a rotisserie chicken and the ingredients to make my mom's chicken salad. That sounded good to me to have for lunch this week, especially while I'm sitting by the pool! I hope to do that two or three days this week, so here's to hoping! I'm also dog sitting again next weekend...for three families. Ha! Two of them have pools, so my weekend will be spent poolside as well. I'm great with this!

What did you do that you loved this weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for being here to read my blog, friends. I'll see you back here tomorrow; love to all!

  1. Pac is so cute! Bummer about getting locked out. I always tell my dog sitters to call me if this happens because we have secrets - a hidden key elsewhere for emergencies.
I love this dogsitting only people with pools gig! Ha! I can't think of anything better - reading by a pool while getting paid.
Your soft serve looks better than mine!

    1. He is such a cutie! It's a good idea to have a spare key hidden somewhere. I'm sure from now on they will make sure of this! Ha! I should only dog sit people with pools...if only, right? It does sound like a good life! It was so good. I've had two pineapple up to this point, and this one was pineapple and strawberry swirl. It was delicious! Even Chris liked this one...he doesn't really drink, but he had a bite of mine. That sounds so funny!

    1. My friend Karen can make them now, but she has a slushy machine. I also saw a recipe that called for Dream Whip...I can't figure out how that would be the same, though. They're expensive at $16 a pop.

  4. Aww! What a cute dog to watch. I love his name! What a great farmers market, I haven't had just a tomato sandwich for years. My grandad used to make me them with tomatoes from his greenhouse. What a drama getting locked out of Kat's house, thank goodness for Chris knowing people who don't charge a fortune.

    1. He's such a little cutie! That's so cool that you used to eat tomato sandwiches with your granddad. I love that! It was quite the ordeal, but I was relieved that it was remedied pretty quickly,.

  5. I love a tomato sandwich and am excited for summer produce. We're growing tomatoes and had good luck with ours last year. There are lots of flowers on the plants so here's hoping! It has not been pool weather here lately. I haven't been in ours yet, or even in the lake. Soon I'm sure. I've been locked out of a house a couple of times and it's no fun. Also, slightly panic inducing lol. Glad it all worked out!
