weekending

Happy Monday, friends! I'm linking up with Tanya for this weekly blog post.

My weekend kicked off in my favorite way—Dad came over for his weekly visit and we made a trip to my happy place, otherwise known as the library. I had a very successful visit!

I feel like I have to confess that this almost never happens. Several books on my to-read list were available, so I grabbed them all. I came home after I dropped Dad off and promptly began reading The Transatlantic Book Club, but after four chapters, I had to put it down because I couldn't get into the storyline. (This is partly why I always get a large stack of books, especially if I don't know the authors I'm reading.)

Todd stayed home Friday night and we had an at home sushi date. Our favorite place closed, which is such a bummer, but we went to another local place and it was good. Not as good as the one that closed, but comparable.

On Saturday, he had to go away for a few hours for some training with Emergency Services and I went out with my mom and Trish. We did our usual thing and ran our own errands, had lunch and enjoyed catching up. I had to replace a pair of jeans that ripped and I found some new ones! I felt like such a rebel because even though I asked the salesclerk at Dillard's if the dressing rooms were open and she said yes, they were all still blocked off. So I went in anyway. I kept being paranoid that someone was going to find me out and I was a nervous wreck trying to be quiet while I was in there. I told the girl who checked me out and she laughed and said they shouldn't be blocked off by this point in time.

I came home and watched the new episode of New Amsterdam and Todd got home shortly after that. All the guys were out all day—Graham was in Oakland taking a friend to drop his truck off then back home in Mississippi, Drew was at a baseball tournament and Jonah and Noah went with their friend to his grandparents house out in Summerville. Todd was home again that night and I ate leftover chicken and rice soup.

I was at church early Sunday morning, then I left right after worship to drive to a town near Nashville to meet up with my sister Debi, who lives in Colorado. (Her in-laws live there and they were there visiting.) I got there in time for a cookout and enjoyed visiting with Debbie (my Debi's sister-in-law) and her family and then spent the night. The plan to do that was to bring my Debi back home today for a few days. I was going to just drive there and back the same day, but this option sounded way more fun.

So that's where I am right now, as you read this. (I added to this post all weekend.) I assume we'll leave sometime this morning and make it back here early or mid-afternoon. That was a fun little one night getaway that was completely unexpected, but so much of the time that's what makes it more fun. Every once in a while, there's something to be said for spontaneity. (Said this girl who loves a plan to stick with.) How was your weekend? I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks for reading my blog! Love to all.

  1. I also did not finish that book. The cover was so pretty, but the book just didn't grab me. Thanks for linking up with Hello Monday! Tanya - The Other Side of the Road

  2. That's funny that we both quit the same book! It did grab my attention...that happens fairly often to me, though. It's why I always get a big stack.
