weekending

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day and long weekend! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's post.

I love this long weekend every time it rolls around each year! I love knowing on Thursday that I'll wake up to two more leisurely mornings before things resuming normal on Sunday. I know many of you feel the same way! I know you know this about me, but I love having a lazy morning with my coffee, blog reading, and a Hallmark Christmas movie on in the background. I'll be doing a lot of movie watching this week, and though I'll miss my hubby, I won't mind all the movie watching! I'll jump in with the weekend.

Each Thanksgiving weekend we have lunch with Mom and Bill at their house, and we celebrate with Dad and Sandy the day after. Because of that, I had a free day on Friday, so Mom and I did a little shopping. You know I decked myself out in my festive clothing!

My shirt is Christmas green with "Jolly" written on it in red lettering. I mentioned it a few weeks ago in one of my posts, but it came from Walmart! I love it, but if you look into one for yourself, I'd consider sizing up like I did. I like my sweatshirts to be roomy, and not tight feeling.

I needed something from Hobby Lobby for the bookstore, so we did that, then we went to eat sushi for lunch. It was so good after our day of heavy food! We did a couple of other small things, then we called it a day. I did a few things around the house in between getting home and leaving for Dad's, then I ordered some pizza for us all, and Jonah picked it up for us. My sister and nephew came over and rode with us to Dad's. It's always fun seeing the fruit of our labor of putting up the Christmas lights, and this year was no different. It looked beautiful!

I love seeing the family through the dining room window. We had such a great night together! Of course I took pictures in a sneaky way. 🤣

I love seeing them all talking and relaxing when we're at one of the grandparents house. Jonah had Laura with him, and they were cracking me up. We came home afterward and got comfy to watch COPS. I shopped small with my mom and sister on Saturday! We found my favorite boutique, The Paisley Rooster, that still has a shop open in a nearby town. I bought one shirt and took this picture to show my outfit.

I'm so bummed that you can't tell my pants are dark green, but they matched my green Christmas tree earrings perfectly. I bought that taupe colored pico- style shirt that you see hanging behind me. I was wanting another one, and this one was on sale for $20. After this we went to the downtown area of this little town and had lunch at the cutest new restaurant, The Kitchen Table.

It's a renovated historical home-turned restaurant. They each had a salad, but I had something called Debris Eggs Benedict. It was served on biscuits instead of English muffins, and it had shredded barbecued brisket on top. It was mouth-wateringly delicious, and they enjoyed their salads as well. Their dinner menu is entirely different. I love a mural, and this one below is behind the restaurant.

After lunch we went into a cute store with great potential, but was really just an overpriced t-shirt shop. This little barn is in the downtown area and available for pictures. I love it when towns do that kind of thing.

Then from there we went to another small town, one a bit further away, so that I could stop in two boutiques that I love. I didn't buy anything in either, but it was fun looking. I loved the Christmas decor in this shop! I think the name of this place is Twigs and Things. They had beautiful arrangements!

I came home later in the afternoon to Todd and Jonah putting up the Christmas tree on the flag pole. It looks so pretty!

I'll have to get a better picture of it when the motion light isn't also on. Our neighbors love this as well, which is really sweet of them to have told us. We had leftovers for dinner after a very difficult football game that we watched (the Iron bowl is always Alabama and Auburn), then after Todd's blood pressure returned to the normal range, he went with me to the church to stock the bookstore for church yesterday morning. I was so thankful he did that! He came home to pack for a work trip that he'll be on all week in Des Moines, Iowa, and we went to bed early. We were both up at 3:30 a.m.! I saw him off, then watched a movie before going in to the church. I sit in the empty (quiet) sanctuary after the first morning rush in the bookstore, and I always drink water and eat a protein bar at that time.

For the rest of the day after lunch, I napped, watched a movie, read my book, cleaned and vacuumed, did laundry, then ate dinner in front of the tv again to watch more Christmas movies. Don't be impressed at my productivity, I was super lazy before all of this! What all did you do this weekend? Did you put up your Christmas decor yet? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all!

  1. Might have to get that sweatshirt! I plan to wear Christmas colors or something Christmasey to school today. I can't wait to wear my Prosecc Ho Ho Ho shirt but obviously I can't wear that to school! Ha! I have to have my sweatshirts big and not too tight in the neck.
I'm so glad you found a Paisley Rooster! I should have shopped small, but I am still trying to be frugal and I knew I would want to shop for myself!

  2. Amy, you should get one! The $10 price is very appealing. I got another one, a red one with a Santa face. It's cute too! I love wearing festive clothing, and all the more when it's comfy. I am the same way with sweatshirts. I am so glad to have found one! I did shop for myself some, but I needed a couple of things. I hope you have a great day, friend!
