Happy bonus blog post day! I couldn't resist when I saw what this one was about; I don't know that I'll join in with this link party every month, but I will when the topics are easy for me to write about. I'm linking up with several ladies who co-host this monthly event. Here are a few things that I do to save time when it comes to household chores.
- I clean a little everyday
- I put things back where they belong after I've used them
- When I get dressed for the day, I fold my pajamas and either hang them in my closet or put them at the end of my bed
- I keep things organized to keep things from getting messy and cluttered
- I take care of paper clutter immediately, meaning that I sort the mail into piles and throw away the junk
- I vacuum everyday because of the dogs
- I mop up a mess quickly
- I hand wash the dishes that I use to save space in the dishwasher
- I use a Swiffer duster almost everyday (again, because of the dogs)
- I have places for specific things, like blankets and lighters for my candles
- I keep my bed either made completely or I'll at least neaten it by straightening the covers
Now that it's just Jonah and me in my home, this is easy to do! We are very clean/organized/clutter-less people; this is one out of a thousand reasons why we're such great roommates. That being said, when a mess is made, I immediately clean it up if I've made it; he does the same. We've gotten into a really good routine of helping each other out; when I make dinner, he cleans the kitchen. I'll help him put the clean sheets back on his bed, and he often does the same for me when it's my turn to do mine. When I'm getting ready for the day, I go ahead and fold my pajamas and put them at the end of my bed, or I hang them in my closet. I put the things away that I've used to get ready, like makeup and hair products. I hang the towels I've used in my bathroom to allow them to air dry before folding them neatly to hang on the towel bars. I wash bathroom rugs regularly, and blankets that I use or that the dogs use. I do very little laundry these days, so the washing machine is always open and easy to throw things in for quick wash.
My home is far from perfect, but it's good enough for Jonah and me. That's all I can ask for, right?
What do you do to save time for chores at home? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my bonus blog post today, friends. Here's my weekend recap post that I shared earlier today if you missed it. Love to all!

I believe in putting my things back when I use them but my kids are always moving things to new places and forgetting where they put them!
ReplyDeleteYes! I am a big believer in that as well. You made me laugh about your kids moving things; I have been known to do that as well and forget where I've put things to hide them. 🤣
DeleteWe have a lot in common though I really can't imagine the day when our washer or dishwasher isn't running (what feels like) constantly!
ReplyDeleteWe do! I knew this after I met you in person last year and we were always up early together. I'm excited about that again this year! I am in shock that it's like this for me now, I never thought that day would come! 🤣
DeleteYou sound like my kind of roommate! “Putting things away instead of down “ helps so much with clutter. So fun to see pics of your cozy home!
ReplyDeleteYes! I love that- putting things away instead of down. It does help! Thanks, friend!
DeleteI love the owl.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love him too. I love quirky decor items.
DeleteIt helps if you're naturally neat. I'm neat and my hubs is super neat and too much clutter or dog hair make him twitch. On the plus side he loves to vacuum so that's his job. I like a tidy house. My grandkids are going to stay with us for a bit until they're settled into their new house and hubs and I are trying to get our heads around the fact that things here will be a little bit messier than normal. It will be fun to have them here, and it's temporary so everyone will deal.
ReplyDeleteIt really does help if you're naturally neat! I used to not be that way, but I have been ever since I was out of my mom's house and a newly married wife. I quickly realized things wouldn't get picked up unless I did that, so I learned to be neater and cleaner. I love that you and your hubby split the tasks; that's a great idea! I'm sure you'll love having the grands around, even if it does mean a messier than normal home. I know their parents will appreciate them being able to get settled while y'all keep them!
DeleteI really do think putting something away after you use it is the biggest timesaver when it comes to doing chores. I remember friends commenting that the night before their housekeeper came was so stressful cleaning everything up and I just couldn't relate. I'm glad you and Jonah are such great roommates!
ReplyDeleteI do too! That's so funny. I remember hearing that before myself! Thanks, friend!
DeleteYou are doing great at these everyday things and that is so helpful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, friend! Not always, but I do try my best on most days.
Deleteoh goodness, it's the paper clutter that gets me! If I could train myself to handle a paper only once and put it where it belongs, almost all my clutter problems would be solved. I'm glad you and Jonah work so well together as roommates and help each other out!
ReplyDeleteSame! It drives me mad. Thanks for that!
DeleteTaking care of paper clutter is my weakness! There is always some paper of some sort where it shouldn't be. Great advice!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it helps that both you and Jonah pick up after yourselves and work together as a team.
I hate paper! 🤣 Thanks, friend.
DeleteYou have a very pleasant, homey place. I really enjoy your pictures! I hope you have a week of many kindnesses shown to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lisa! I love taking pictures and making my spaces pretty. I hope the same for you!
DeletePaper clutter is the worst. I am good about throwing stuff out. Other people in my house want to keep everything.
ReplyDeleteIt really is! I understand that statement; it used to be that way for me at home, but it's all different now, needless to say. 🤣
